Correct Throttle Cable Bracket?
I see various bracket numbers for 66 tri power throttle cable brackets. Any consensus on the correct one 9779969, 9783284, 9783286?

The correct one is 9779969. The same number is used for 1965 and 1966 Tri-Powers. I have them on hand. They are plated. You can use them as they are, or paint them engine color like the factory did.

straycat,
This is the Correct information on the “1966 Tri-Power” throttle cable bracket, as ‘65 and ‘66 are NOT the same. Factory part numbers in MPC show 65 and 66 brackets are different. My ‘66 Survivor shown in second photo has the #9783286. In that pic, along with two other ‘66 brackets I have show the last character has a “4” with a “6” stamped over it. I’ve seen other ‘66 Tri-Power brackets with just the “6” as the last character. Chris.

I took some pics of my 2 brackets (9783284 and 9783286 non over stamp) and a borrowed 9779969. Thought it would be interesting. Thanks to Dick and 60sstuff

Interesting, yes, on these 1966 brackets.
The “vertical slot” and bolt hole are closer to the front of the bracket on the 9783286. The 9783284 which is a ‘66 2BBL. bracket has the vertical slot further back from the front of the bracket. The slot of course is where the throttle cable metal ring fits into the bracket. Thanks for those comparison photos.

My thought is they took already stamped 9783284 blank brackets and relocated the slot and bolt hole and over stamped the 6. Maybe a different factory started making 9783286 brackets. Overall dimension wise they are the same.

My thought also.
It also looks like maybe the recess area has been stamped further forward also, to move the cable forward more ?

Sorry if I mislead anyone with the '65, '66 throttle cable brackets. Thank you for posting the pictures of the various versions. I've used all three of the part numbers on many '65 and '66 Tri-Powers with no issues.
In '64, there are no part numbers stamped on the bracket, but as many know, the Tri-Power '64's had a welded bracket. I've attached pictures of the standard 4 bbl. bracket and the Tri-Power version for reference.
