Good work. I'm certain you can get in the 11's with some minor suspension tweeks/tire pressure, trying different launch/drive techniques, and minor timing/carb changes... Put some shims between the front sway bar mounts and the frame so the bar moves freely. Make minor changes and see what it likes. Actually if you did nothing but make more runs with no other changes your times will likely improve if you dont have much experience making dragstrip passes... Listen to Larry (formulajones) he knows his stuff!

p.s: Pop the power steering belt off. It is good for about a tenth! Also, lose the air cleaner if you havent already...
p.s.s: make sure you have extra belts with you.

Every little bit helps.

Also,

Don’t discount the weather. If you can, time your track day with a weather pattern that provides ANY kind of tail wind and of course, cool, dry day time air....

Few Other things:

Remove power steering belt
Cut your alternator field
Remove front sway bar
Run skinny front tires
Remove exhaust from headers back
Electric fan
Electric water pump
Try different fuels

Some of these may not appeal to you but might put you into the zone if you want to play a little..

You’ll get that 11.90, it’s in there. 60ft is where it’s at. Get in the low 1.6 range and it’s ON!

Congrats on a new personal best! 3/10 is a LOT. I agree that your 60 needs to improve to get into the 11s. Sounds like you have a good fuel system(I have the same setup with no fumes btw). What is your exhaust? Are you spinning or dead hooking at launch? You also say you're afraid to launch all out w 1310 joints, are you leaving at full throttle? I thought I saw in another thread that your converter is stalling 38/4000 which should have a much better 60 than 1.79 dead hooking w 600 lb/ft. What is your weight? I'm thinking you should be 3500ish. It took me a while to go from low 12s to 11.70s and the game changers for me were converter, exhaust, and fuel system

gotcha... looks like an adjustable one is out unless you drill some holes.

Some good ideas. I have not yet removed the air cleaner. But I will try that. I also found a tapered spacer for a Q Jet that I might give a shot at. Could install it just at the track and run with no air cleaner. See if it’s worth trying to fit under the hood with the air cleaner on.

I did manage to shave 3 tenths off the 1/8 mile with no changes. So how hard can 3 tenths on the big end be?! Lol.

The extra belts are also a good idea. Funny story. I threw the alternator belt. I was so excited at my 12.2 that I didn’t check under the hood after the run. Rookie error. I also don’t have a voltage gauge. I removed it to make room for my Wideband. So I only noticed because with PS only it was slipping. I stopped to tighten the belt. Found the alt belt had twisted off. Managed to get it back on.

My pulleys look good visually but I must have A small imperfection if I lost it at RPM. I just recently switched TJ the CVF brackets.

I also need to get a trailer. Worried about breaking with a 90 mile trip home is a bit nerve wracking.

Try clamping the front of the leaf springs that’s all I have 1.6 60’s and so far 11.20’s my goal is high tens no aftermarket traction devices but the clamps and good shocks.

It sure can. Last November, I went to the track (Alamo City Motorplex, near San Antonio) and made 3 runs in in a 24 minute stretch. They went 11.62, 11.61, 11.64...mph was all between 115.77 and 116.07. The sun was out, wind was calm, and it was about 50 degrees.

I went back in June, track temp was about 110, and my best run was 12.16. When you are chasing tenths, weather is a huge factor.

I do think the wind was in our face on Saturday. But other than that I don’t think we are going to get much better on the weather side of things. It was sunny about 50* and 50% humidity.

Maybe this winter I’ll break down and look for a set of 3.42s. I think that would probably still be manageable on the street.

Intake is an RPM that I bought on here from Paul K years ago. IIRC it was listed as ported for use with 300 cFm heads.

Carb is an 850 Q Jet custom to my engine by SMI. I do have a big Holley I could try. But I’m not sure how much it would yield. It’s a 950 Annular booster HP style

Well, having decent air tells you that it’s going to be a bit more difficult to reach your goal in average or worse air.

I like to know where I’m at it absolute garbage weather and the absolute best weather. The wild card is the track conditions. Spinning in great air doesn’t help you get that ET !

It’s really tough to get those “magic” days at the track (tail wind, great air with low water grains and great track prep!). One or more elements are always missing.

Keep posting your future successes (or fails) ......helps me learn something

Yeah, that's the information you need when everyone wants to compare track times. The DA is a player.
Jeremy had the weather on his side. I grew up racing in Cincinnati and the surrounding areas where he's at, and this time of year is about as good as it gets over there before the tracks close for the season. 50's and low humidity. So his trap speed of 109 mph is going to take more work to overcome. 60 foot would be the area easiest to work on.

Tracks here in Arizona are open year round but it's really rare to ever get on the track with DA's below 2500 feet it seems. Every time I get down there early morning with DA's around 6-700 feet, the track never seems to be ready till noon and by then DA has already soared over 2,000 feet and climbing. Very frustrating deal. Even in the winter time our temps are still in the 70's so you either need to get on track very early morning, or stay very late at night on the rare occasion they have an event that fits the bill on a Saturday and they don't shut the lanes down early on you. Summertime, forget it. It's still 100 degrees in the middle of the night. Most cars you hear about running 10's or 11's somewhere else are always at least a 1/2 second or more slower here in the desert, unless you have some sort of power adder to add your own atmosphere and overcome the crappy DA.

That is a good combination Q Jet and the rpm for your engine. I think you could tune the 60ft well into the 1.5's for 60fts.
