Best place to buy?
There's A LOT of members on here daily and I'm sure many of you are running original style/size rims. That being said; I'm going to be running 15x7 rally 2's and need tires very soon. Where do you Order from?
I'm looking for the best prices on some BFG Radial TA's. Front size: 215/70/15 Rear size: 255/60/15

Used to be Discount Tire, I could get free shipping and mount/balance at work myself. Now maybe Summit Racing.

Sam's Club sells BFG's. If you have one close, at least you could save on shipping.

BFG Radial TA's are not cheap, I run them on the rears of my street setup and I'm not a big fan......Prior to that I ran a set of Hankooks(rears), which I liked better. I've been buying tires from Ebay, Discount tire and McCormick racing as of late.....no issues with any of them....free shipping with all of them

I know at my Sams they will not sell you tires that are off sized or staggered like this set. They also make sure that what you buy meets the same specs as the tires that come from the factory or better or else they wont sell them. Sears mounted my offset size 17" tires after I told them I would sign a waiver. Online tires have been my best bet of late.

Thanks guys. I will look around at those places. I have access to a mounter and balancer so that I can do myself. Id just like to find the cheapest place to get them.

cheapest online place is probably summit... & if you find them cheaper online summit will price match.. & free shipping. walmart will sell mixmatched tires as long as you dont drive your car in or tell then what car they are for, just buy them online & pickup at the store, they wont say anything.
the bfg are a decent tire & look great on muscle cars but are very old technology, if you want a little better tire at a cheaper price i suggest looking at the mickey thompson radial s/t tires, same solid white letters as the bfg but has a higher speed rating & a little more modern tread pattern. summit has a complete range of sizes for both brands & many others. walmart doesnt carry the m/t. |

I've run BFG-TA's on various vehicles for years. They've gotten pretty spendy (doubled) and besides the price increase....nothing's changed
Next time up on the GTO I'll be using the Mickey Thompson's.

Why would the tire shops refuse to sell tires that aren't the same size front and back?

its usually just walmart/sams, not regular tire shops. their reasoning is that since the factory didnt provide that size tire then its not "safe" to stagger the sizes or go to a bigger size. but i have convinced then to allow bigger sizes as long as all 4 are the same... like on suv's & trucks etc. i stepped up 1 or 2 sizes for my jeep & they allowed it as long as all 4 were the same. & if you can get them to mount & balance the tires, they offer a lifetime rotate & rebalance with the sale.

Another vote for Summit. I ordered mine last year and got free shipping.
Looking at both the BFG's and the M/T Sportsmans, I went with the M/T's. I have no regrets. Summit pricing for the sizes you've indicated: 215/70/15 BFG R T/A= $124, M/T Sportsman = $116 255/60/15 BFG R T/A = $159, M/T Sportsman = $135 So for a set, you're looking at $566 for the BFG's and $502 for the M/T's

I usually find them cheapest on tirerack.com and then get discount tire to price match and pick them up myself. It avoids shipping charges. I mount and balance my own stuff though so I get a carry out price. |

No one has mentioned so I will. If you live in a state that makes it very difficult to
nearly impossible to dispose of old tires (From your home) then you do need to consider this when buying any tire. If this is your situation and you have old tires on those rims, it is possible a Tire Center will discard them, but maybe not if your not buying the tires there. This is a risk buying on line, as you will still need to have them mounted and balanced and possibly discard old tires, and all have costs attached. I live in PA (Cannot dispose of Tires from any residence) and when I bought my 455 from a guy in New York he offered me a set of 15X7 Rally IIs. I told him I cant take um with the tires, and he was nice enough to have them removed. Bought tires and had them mounted and balanced on the bare Rims. I'm sure we can all find ways to dispose of Tires if required, but it can really be a hassle so just suggesting you check this out in your area, to be sure you have an option. Once I gave away a Set of Slotted Mag's in perfect condition just to get the Tires off my property, and most of the folks on my block have a stack of Tires in their garage that may be there forever or until the community organizes some type of cleanup that includes them. |

I buy my tires from Ford Dealerships. They will beat anyone's best prices, ( price includes shipping and taxes).
They handle BFG. Not the cheapo line either. They are in the tire business heavy now to create traffic in there shop not, not profit. A very good friend is a Ford parts manager and told me they want to do volume, profit is a non issue on tires. Volume gets them even cheaper cost/tire. They likely will order any size you want in. Definitely worth a call to your local dealer, check into it. http://owner.ford.com/maintenance/ti...160127222554:s Last edited by STEELCITYFIREBIRD; 01-27-2016 at 06:32 PM. |

Thanks everyone! I'm looking at the Mickey thompsons now also and will likely go with them. I do like the updated tread pattern over the BFG.

I bought 4 BFG Radial TA's last year for $627 mounted and balanced and out the door at Kauffman Tire with a coupon they had at the time. They did a good job. So, it's another place to check, especially if they have some sort of deal going on. I've gotten good life and service from the other Radial TA's I've had over the years. So, I stayed with them. These new ones look and drive great.
