Aren't all the door latch mechanism pieces plated, not painted? The beltline trim, weatherstrip, windows, etc. were all assembled on the line, after the body panels were painted, so why would the door latch parts be painted?

On my '64 GTO, the judges had an argument about whether the lower trunk latch should be body color or not. They could not agree, so ignored it. Still don't know what is "correct"--neither does anyone else!

I thought the question was about the actual striker pin in the door jamb. If so they are painted body color in 1969.

They were cad plated, installed, then painted with the car.
