Power Window Switch
My 69 GTO has power windows. I have a love/hate relationship with them, with wishing they were of the Armstrong roll up variety winning out more often than not.
But..... Is it possible to repair a power window switch? They appear to be crimped together, I’m wondering if there is anything in there that can be adjusted or tightened or cleaned or whatever if I went through the trouble to take it apart? The passenger side switch will get the window down but not up. The driver switch gets the 3 other windows but doesn’t work the passenger window. I’ve tried aftermarket replacements without much luck.

can you jump the plug on the backs of the switch with the switch off and make em work ?
and yes only flatten out 2 of the tabs enuf to slide the 1 switch style apart.... are the intermittant also??? I find 1/2 the time its a broken wire in the door jamb.... |

On the driver side, I’ve done nothing, just confirmed lack of passenger side operation with the 4 way driver switch. On the passenger side, I’ve run power around the switch and the motor runs the window up and down. Possibly I should run power directly to the switch and check it’s operation that way before I take the switch apart or is the fact that it lowers the window good enough to confirm power is there and the switch needs attention?

After staring at one of the OEM passenger switches on the workbench, I decided I’d take it apart. Why not. I folded two of the ears up and pulled the “motherboard” out. A pair of multi part thin brass/copper (?) contacts mounted on a piece of resin, activated by a plastic rocker. There are 2 contact areas per side (stacked up), similar to sanding a set of points, I turned some fairly cankered contact areas nice and shiny clean with some 1000 grit.
We’ll see soon if it’s really that simple.

In my case, taking the switch apart, cleaning it and reinstalling was the cure.
Driver switch is about to come out now.
