I wash up to the edge of the filler, have always thought you could trap solvents under the primer.

Hmm I haven't had any issues but I would hate to see you have some! What brand are you using? I wonder if they have a tech sheet you could reference? I have also wiped filler with reducer although that was a long while back with no issues, I figured if anything was trapped in the filler it was the same chemical makeup of the primer I was using.

I've been using Hi Tech 7800 surface cleaner. Its not like a final wash, gives you a little bit of time to wipe off before it dries.

Finally have the primer on the quarters , next project is the rear body panel. I was going to just do the bottom section but have decided to do the complete panel.

Test fitted the panel today, needs some tweaking along the lower quarters. Fits nice on the upper quarters.

Been working on the fender alignment, I'm not satisfied with the way it coming out. What do you guys think? I also installed the new hood, fit is ok , not great but what I expected from an aftermarket piece.

Someone had previously patched my lower fenders on my car and I wasn't happy with the gap or the profile. I ended up having to cut the inner brace in a couple locations then push the fender in to align with the door. I tacked the brace while on the car then removed the fender and welded the inner brace solid. To fix the gap I had to run a bead on the ede of the fender anywhere it was larger then 3/16 then I ground it all flush and even. It came out perfect but it was a ton of work! I think I must have a couple days in each one. I thin Pontiacs have to be the hardest vehicle to align panels on by far.

I didn't have to cut the brace but had weld a bead on the edge to make it look decent, still have to add some more in spots. We must have the bodyman do the fenders on our cars, lol.

Did you use a self etching primer...or epoxy....before the 2k filler primer ?

I liked it, made the job go much faster. a lot better than using stripper or a DA.

I didn't care for the patch work done on the fenders by the PO so I ordered patch panels. Waited about 3 weeks , finally came today. What a disappointment, quality is so poor I can't use them. Going to return them , hopefully they will take them back.

They are made by Sherman, bought them thru Summit. They are going to take them back, I'll post a picture later. I would only use them as a last resort.
