Hydramatic needed for a '55, what fits?
There is a non member looking for a '55 trans and I am wondering what would be a direct fit without lots "taffy pulling". It should definitely be a clean core at a minimum. It would get shipped to MI. I know of a '55 but with a stuck engine and the car flat on the ground, removal sounds like absolutely no fun. Got one?
Any help would surely be appreciated.

Only '55 and early '56 Dual-Range HydraMatics would be "direct fits". Late '56 through '60 Dual-Coupling Hydramatics wouldn't be terrible to fit, but there would be some hassle with rear engine mounts, linkage (shifter and throttle pressure), and output shaft/U-joint matchup, and maybe driveshaft length.
