Wiring harness retainers
Does anyone have a count on how many of the hard plastic wiring retainer clips are used on the core support and pictures of their locations? I counted at least 7 of them. Also how many of the wire retainer straps marked P-4007 were used per car? I count at least 5 for the washer hose and wires.

SR, they should be metal for the cowl clips. I had only 3 original clips for the washer hoses on the cowl panel. Most of these A-bodies came that way. I bought kit from PY and it had 4 in the package so I used all 4. If you look closely you can see a dimple in the panel for the 4th clip to hold the hose for the washer nozzle on the driver's side. I'm more than likely wrong using 4, but hey, it works and holds the hose better than the 2 hoses being doubled up in one clip for that nozzle. Yeah I know, my hoses' diameter is a bit bigger than the originals would be. At the time I put them back on it was all I had available.

Gary, where you have the two hose retainers, there is only supposed to be one. One hose in one side, the other in the other side.

The plastic straps for the washer hose & wiring were two longer ones on the inner fender and one shorter one on the LH cowl panel holding the washer hoses going up there. See picture below. The metal "S" clips like in Gary's picture hold the hoses going across the cowl panel. I believe I am missing one by the LH washer nozzle. Core support wire retainers for ‘67
Gents it appears there are 4 holes along the Core support for the lights and horn wires. My car has two of them installed, the two outer retainers. The wiring seems to be held just fine with only two retainers. I had a hard time trying to install a re-pop retainer into one of the inner holes....maybe it doesnt belong. I’m left to question...two retainers or four? Could not find anything in shop manual.
Thanks, Rob in Nor-Cal |
