got a new harness for my engine bay for my 72 formula , what is the brown wire for

I recall having to buy this separately from the main engine harness

thats what i thought , but my tach connector will not go into the new connector

If it's solid brown it's usually a tach wire. Is it a unitized ignition car or points?

Any one have a photo of how it hooks up. Did some research and the connector at the end of my tach harness must be for a unitized dist . I guess in need the wire with the little hook so can put it on my coil

You must have purchased a unitized harness. At this point, I would most likely change the terminal end unless this is a concourse restoration.
