Default 1965 GTO reverse lights

Having issues with the reverse lights staying on when car is not in reverse. Anyone one have a wire diagram or possible things to check? It was weird because Iíve never seen them on with car in neutral. Also had to pop start it today as well, which itís never gave me any issues in the past. Thanks for any help

Chris

I don't think they had the reverse lockout setup like 70 and newer.
But I'd say the neutral and reverse light switch is out of adjustment?
Not sure where it is in 65, but probably on the tranny linkage.

Default Back-up lamp switch= Muncie 4 speed transmission

Here is a jpeg from a long time ago. This is a 66 GTO 4 speed transmission but a 65 GTO would be the same as far as that reverse lamp switch and wiring goes.

Where the twin wires pass thru the rubber boot in the firewall (right beside the fuse block) the plug it connects to underneath the dash, the dash wires are color coded: one is lime green and the other one is dark green.

The wires outside of the firewall and underneath the car to the actual switch are not color-coded.

As I recall that zip cord "twin" wire is dark grey and/or black.
