Default 65 Catalina Fender Color

finally getting around to some bodywork on the 65 2+2. Both fenders are in primer so I am not sure about the correct color of the headlight mounting area behind the bezels on the fenders. They look like semi-flat black but body color seems like it would make more sense. The bezels will cover what ever it is but I am curious as to what the correct color might be.

I have a perfect original, NO rust & never painted 1965 Catalina fender set aside for my 1965 Bonneville 4DRHT (One day....)

Painted in Palmetto Green, the whole area behind the headlight is body colour.

I'll bet good money my "one day" is a LOT OLDER than yours!!!! 27 years if I'm correct.

Its a PHS verified 4 door hardtop with a YK code 421 HO Tri-power/auto. Loaded.
I fear I'm getting far too old to restore this car and it might have to find a future owner soon

Default What? only 27 years?

My “one day” turns 31 in a few months. 1963 Catalina Safari. I am slooooooowly working on it but fear I’ll never get it done.

The plan to work on things after retirement didn’t really pan out. Interest and motivation are just not strong enough anymore. Nor am I!

BTW, ‘63 Catalina fender. Body color behind headlights. At least mine is. Headlamp mounting plate is black.

I've had this one for about 15 years now. I'm tackling it one panel at a time. We moved back in 2020 and now I cant find anything. The "I know I had this" bug is driving me crazy. How does a hood hinge spring just disappear? And bolts..... Ugh!
