Added a 2005 GTO (Black/Black/A4 Wife's car) Thursday to our growing collection. Looked through the messages here. Interesting. Couple of questions: Anybody know of a ram air kit for the '05? There are rubber plugs in the scoops that just pop right out. Any problem with leaving them out? Ours shifts "solidly" from 1 to 2 on easy acceleration and smoother under harder accel. We are waiting for the Sport Appearance Package to come in for installation. Any comments on the mufflers in hat kit? Thanks!

For a fair weather car you can pull those rubber baffles out. If you look at the design, their intent is mostly to keep water from entering the scoops and to allow air to flow out. The scoops are pretty much non-functional scoops although you could consider them heat extractors. If you do pull the baffles out, I recommend removing the liner from the underside of the hood as well. Otherwise, if you do get water in there it will stain the liner and look like crap. There are no true ram air kits for the stock hood that I'm aware of, but there are after-market hoods with ram air ducts directly to the air box. I'm leaving mine stock for the most part, but if you want goodies and lots of information about them check out LS1GTO.com. Sponsors are all down the left side of the site. I haven't heard much about the SAP exhaust, but I have seen plenty of photos and it looks pretty sweet.

It would be nice to build an air duct to dump into the air box. In looking at mine I don't see how even air can get through at the top.
