Man, it's unbelievable how much removing the spoiler improves the look of this car.

Talking New GTO

HI All;
I just bought my 05 last week and it was worth every penny. Mine is quicksilver with a black interior and of course the 6spd. It's nice to hear from others who like the new GTO. Most everyone I know complains that's it's to bland, I like it because is dosen't scream "Hey look at me". And it's not a cop magnet. The shifter has got to go, who makes a good aftermarket replacement? Anyway just my $.02 worth.

Default NEW O5 GTO

74RAGTOP CONGRATS ON THE NEW GTO. THEY ARE AN AWESOME CAR REGARDLESS OF THE BEATING SOME OF THE GUYS GIVE THEM. I HAVE THE 05 CYCLONE GRAY WITH A4 AND BLACK INTERIOR AND SIMPLY LOVE IT. OF COURSE NEVER TO BE DRIVEN IN SNOW. I LIVE IN INDIANA AND WE ARE HAVING A SNOW STORM NOW BUT IT STAYS IN GARAGE. THE MORE YOU DRIVE IT THE BETTER YOU LIKE IT. THEY ARE AWESOME OFF THE LINE FOR A FACTORY CAR. AGAIN CONGRATS

Congrats on your new ride 74Ragtop. Enjoy. As for the shifter, I've still got the OEM on my car but I do plan on eventually upgrading. Lots of folks have swapped out to after-market shifters, and the consensus on LS1GTO.com is that the GMM Ripshifter is by far the best one currently available. B&M also makes one, but it's not as highly rated...it's also much cheaper.

I got rid of that piece of crap stock shifter right away and went with the B&M (about $160). HUGE improvement, low price, and zero problems in the 9k miles it's been installed. The GMM may be better, (never driven one) but I would have a hard time justifying the price delta. What ever you choose, buy it and throw that stocker in the trash ASAP!

Add me to the list. 05 black on red 6m. Awesome car! I love driving it.I also own a 66 hardtop restored, it can be seen on the ultimate GTO site, too stupid to get pics to load here. Real easy to find, its the only Palmetto Green hardtop on the sight. My other toy is a 69 vert, on the rotisserie now. Love them all! I would like to add one more to the collection, a 74. Maybe after the vert is done. I saw a pic of a Spice Red 06, nice color. Kinda makes me wish I would have waited.

Should have never sold my '67.

Thanks. I didn't mean to hijack the thread but thanks for the compliments. It took me three years to do, did everything myself except for the machine work on the engine. The car sat in a barn for 24 years before I bought it. I guess I'm hijacking again!!!

Wow! cool man.. I'm glad to see other diehard GTO guys buy this car. For those that slam it, need to actually drive it. You will change your mind.
