Default Sunfire Mist Info needed

I placed this on Body shop thread, just throwing it out here for more exposure, thanks

Does anyone have the formula for Sunfire Mist? I ordered a sample online using the GM code WA3240, but it is almost a candy apple, very dark red. I do not have anything to compare it to, but it does not reflect the colors I find online.

If anyone has painted it lately and has brand of paint and mixing info, would really appreciate the info!

I assume you are referring to Sunfire Red, a 1964 color?

Have you tried spraying your sample or are you just looking at it in the can? It may look different once mixed and sprayed on a surface and in various lighting conditions.

"I do not have anything to compare it to" - go on ebay and order a color chip sample sheet ($15), then you will have a baseline of what you are trying to match

Yes I sprayed a sample, should have put that in post. Here is a pic of panel.

I know I have read post where this color was recently shot, so hopefully they will chime in on code and formula. Thanks

Sometimes its hard to match colors with small chips.
Does this sprayout not show the color correctly?
High metallic s can change with air pressure, techniques etc.
I like that color!

Does not match chip color, agree that chips and actual application vary. Look at this pic of GP, color is much lighter almost a copper hue. With it being a metalic different pics are affected by the light sourse.

That was why I had hoped someone had recently painted a correct match of color and could share details.

Default 1964 Tempest Series color

Sunfire Red is a gorgeous color.

I would think it is a difficult color to duplicate.

Sunfire Red can look different from spot to spot and depending on how the light is coming in at it. Straight on it has more of a salmon color to it, at an angle it looks much more red. It has to be really smooth to show off the color's properties the best.

Thanks tempest1964, my sample was ordered based off the GM code, but clearly is not close to the pics or descriptions below.

Appreciate everyone’s pics, love this color. The reason I am seeking details from someone who has recently painted this color is I have an 71 C10 that I want to paint this color. May be blasphemy to the purest, but believe it will look stunning on the old truck.

So if someone has done a recent paint job would really appreciate specific details on paint used.

I would agree; that color would look correct to 99.8% of viewers.

With Cameo white stock rims and caps that would be stunning.
