Default 57 duel fuel pump

Just bought an original 57 chieftain, it has a single fuel pump with the vac wipers plumbed to the 2 barrel carb. What if any is the advantage of having the duel fuel pump, as I believe that it's lines go to bother the wipers and carb.

Thx

Dual diaphragm pump is for the operation of the Vacuum wipers. Cores are not hard to find. Congrats on your car, we want pictures!
What can you tell us about it?

Advantage, dual action pump provides vacuum at all times. With the vacuum plumbed to the carburetor or manifold vacuum every time you opened the throttle the vacuum signal goes way down. If you were getting on the FWY and it was raining and had the wipers on the sudden acceleration and wide open throttle would stop the wipers until you backed off and manifold vacuum was restored.

If you find the correct core here is a link to a quality rebuild kit. I used one on my 50 Pontiac. I don't know if they have a pump but you could ask.
