without including the AIR and export heads and minor casting changes there are 6 heads.
Compression ratio was determined by combustion chamber size.
66 1 bbl
66 4bbl both have short spark plug

67 1 bbl
67 4bbl longer plug,same as 68-9

68-9 1bbl this is the largest combustion chamber, lowest compression ratio
68-9 4bbl very close to 66 and 67 1 bbl combustion chamber size

so what makes this so important is a mix and match of components can alter
the compression drastically.

highest will be a 66-7 4 bbl head on a 68-9 250
lowest a 68-9 1bbl head on a 66-7 230

Thanks, camper-6
230 is in my 1961 jag MKII sedan and needs a rebuild.
Have an extra head but need to identify before I use it if 230 head needs replacing.
