Exclamation

The horn button emblem is a fragile part. More times than not, one of the three tabs will be missing, which makes them fall out of the wheel easily. Other problems with them is the fading of the arrowhead, and the plastic cracking, especially on the edges, like the E-Bay emblem.

I would like to see a simple battery tray!!!!!!
Too bad a die set for a stamped sheet metal part can easily run $50K, maybe $30K if you had it made in China. For example, the die set for those new forged Pontiac cranks was around $100,000 and I believe it was a Chinese maker. Those would be expensive battery trays if you wanted them to be like the original ones. Anybody here own a tool and die shop?

I think that's not the entire reason why the money isn't being spent. In my case, it's paying for the house, three kids, etc...that has to come first. I buy what I can, when I can. Recently I got a set of repainted rims from Rich, and have talked to Squire John about some interior parts and a double-hump crossmember. Thing is concerning the repro ram air setup, I don't have a NACA hooded car, so I'm not in the market for it...if I ever get a GA or 73 GTO, I'd definitely be interested.

I have to agree with Horst about the repro items. I could use most of that as well, but I don't have the deep pockets (well, not yet, though I am taking a second job to get more money for the family and the CA) to buy what I want as quickly as I'd want. I could use the horn cap, WOMs, LSC fender emblems, headlight surrounds, etc. etc...but it'll take a long while for me to get them. Ah, well, the hunt is part of what makes having these Pontiacs worthwhile...

I'm looking for a NOS horn button for my Can Am...it has the sport wheel with the large round button in the center...black. The Pontiac crest in it is faded
Brian, not being a wise guy but are you sure it's faded? The crest is gold, not red. I was told by a reliable source that it's supposed to be gold, and he knows his 73-77's. Seems kind of odd given that the shifter button has a RED arrowhead...

(How many topics have been brought up in this one thread so far?)

None of my shifter knob buttons ever had red arrowheads.. They are gold like the center cap of the Custom Sport wheel.

The optional Luxury cushion wheel had a red arrowhead.

I feel like saying "Duh, duh duh" to myself (LOL). I always thought it was red, and was faded. Now I learn it's gold? I guess mine is ok then, but, I must be seeing things because I can still see a hint of red in it. Never claimed to be an expert on these cars...learn something new all the time, thanks!

You're welcome - I'm no expert either but sharing the knowledge is the beauty of the Internet. Funny thing is I had the same thought as you originally on my own car (how could the crest be faded when the rest of the interior was fine?).

Hmm, maybe my shifter knob button *is* gold - haven't been in the car for a while, but not much point with all that snow on the ground...

I just went an checked on both of mine, 73's are gold also, I assumed they were red, funny how sometimes a person over looks the little things.
