73 Grand-Am and LeMans rear quarter panels are the same. Going to need to find a rust free donor car somewhere in the southwest.

I have a '73 455 Grand Am in my yard. I have had interest in the quarters but have been reluctant to cut up the car. I am curious if there has been any progress on actual production numbers for these cars. I am trying to decide if i want to sell the quarters off of it or not. The motor is gone, the body is typical Az and very dry but the int is trashed. I would rather sell the body shell whole but they are not bringing much. the quarters are worth more.
any new insight on '73 455 GAs?

Lemans was the base series.
So any 73 Lemans/ GTO will fit.

I believe that all 73-77 Pontiac A-bodies use the same hood hinges.

Steve, Jim Matteson of PHS told me years ago that a production breakdown of 73-77 A-bodies would not be possible because it would involve hand-tallying data from the microfilm records.

That would explain why I am having a hard time finding production breakdown on my 1973 GTO.

If the rusted part is just under the wheel opening molding, it probably wouldn't be too hard to cut out that rust and form a new strip of sheet metal to weld in its place.
Or if you need more than that, you could also use that part of the quarter from a 4 door 73 Lemans. Not the entire quarter of course, but you may be able to get all the metal you need. It's the same around the wheel opening and is the same from about the middle of the wheel to the back.

I have a 73 455 GA and from what I've seen over the last couple of years, interest has increased in the 73 GA. If your 73 GA body is in great shape, I would think there would be some people who would love to get a good rust free body to swap parts from their rusted car into.
I hope you don't cut it up. Check out www.abodysite.com . There are probably more 73-77 Pontiac a-body people there than anywhere. Post there what you have and see what kind of interest there is.
However, I think if you want to get the most money for it, and who doesn't, putting it on eBay would get the most exposure. Auction it with a reserve of the least amount you'd take for it and see what happens. If you only got the value of the 2 quarters out of it, you would be ahead, since you wouldn't have had to spend the time and labor to cut them off.

I have a 73 Grand Am 400 2 barrel X4 block with the 4x heads. question- is there any difference between the block and heads from the 2 barrel engine to the 4 barrel engine? the 4 barrel engine has more horsepower I'm assuming because of the bigger carb and a different camshaft. just wondering if anything else are different? how can you tell what cc heads are on the car? I'm getting a 455 GA soon. how can you tell the difference between the 455 big cc 4X heads and this 400 2 barrel 4X head?

I couldn't tell you. If you post your heads question in the "Pontiac-Street" forum, you should get your answer.

In addition to what you mentioned, 4bbl engines used heavy duty Morraine 400 bearings and large 2.11" (vs 1.96") intake valves. 400 heads are around 98 cc. 455 heads are around 114cc, if I remember.
