I would shell out 25 $20 bills, not much more for that car... The rough Can Am I just bought for over half the cost of this one is as good starting point. Looks like it should just sit there, unless Jerry buys it.

It's overpriced. For the rust repairs needed, smart money would be invested on a different Can Am with less extensive rust. Either that, or if 455RM has his heart set on this one, the price needs to drop to be considered a fair deal.

I found one on Craigslist that I'm going to have a better look at this week. The pics look good, if it's as good as it looks, I'm buying it.

Will give me a chance to try out new Duramax and enclosed trailer!

You should go back to Mopars. Leave the Pontiacs for the grown ups. Or maybe you would be better off with the rice burner crowd.
Good for you Jillian. Please post a pic. I need a good laugh.

Now that you mention it, during the summer, I was heavily involved with working on and tuning a low 10 sec. '98 Toyota Supra. Certainly not your average rice burner. Nothing I would want to own, but fun nonetheless. With my experience with the Mopar crowd, they don't have little men that get turned on by wearing women's clothing. Boy, things have changed in the 4 years I was away. Shame....

Several own more than 2 High Performance Mopars.

I also know 2 transsexuals that are into Pontiacs, one of which posts here.

You obviously do not know my en femme name, however since you fantasize about Jillian so much, you are plugging yourself in to the nearest avaliable outlet, which would be me. Sorry, you are not my type. I prefer soft, fluffy women and am very much in love with my wife. But that won't stop you. Your feelings for a non existant person are so strong, you will believe your own lies.

It's hilarious that you being a redhead, which I am, but I do not own a single red wig. Nor is my hair styled in any female way.

Though here, you have only indulged yourself into insulting other members (respected ones at that). Sad, you lead such a pathetic life that all you can do is fantasize about non existant women on internet bulletin boards. Check your Xanax supply if you need a laugh that badly.
You must have me confused with someone else.. I do not have red hair, never have.

Tell me Jillian, which "respected" members have I insulted here? You certainly are NOT well respected. You are more of a joke than anything else.

Who needs Xanax when you can come here and read posts like yours. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time! It was never this sick and interesting over on the various Mopar boards I am a member of...

Default meanwhile, getting back to the thread, this is a thread about a Can AM, isn't it?

If you really feel bad about the car just sitting there, post the contact information and let someone else have a crack at it. The guy might sell when he sees a couple of Ben Franklins waving at him. It wouldn't be worth the money it would take to put it back on the road, but it is definitely worth parting out. I see a good spoiler and shaker, and under that protective layer of dust there may be some interior parts worth salvaging. It even has all four Rally 2 center caps to go with those wheels.

The only way I'll ever buy it is if the owner comes down on the price, hes tried to sell it to me a lot, but hes pretty firm on $2500.
Unless I missed something here, you aren't letting anyone know where it is.

I know where there is a rust free 1976 coupe that I could use for donor sheetmetal...

Bingo!
Use the Can Am specific parts from the Texas dust magnet and you could have a decent clone.

I don't know if I could have that on my conscience... I guess I'm just a classicist at heart...

Either one of these would be a steal after getting the estimate for painting my Grand Am. Easy 6K for a simple paint job!

The Can Am that is on E-Bay for the $14,999 starting bid used to be mine. It is a good car, but not worth the starting bid in my opinion. The doors are iffy, and it has been in a few collisions in its lifetime. It is a solid $10k-$11k car and not much more. Brain Baker's car that he was offering for $15,500 a while back is a much better car.

I guess I'm not as versed on collecting as I used to be.

People b!tch about the condition of a restorable car and say the price is too high, yet it has all the rare parts attached and appear to be in good shape. It's not easy to restore a car when there is no aftermarket or reproduction available.

There's b!tching on the Yahoo group about 2 real CAs for $3500, those cars are missing key parts though. Those cars I could see being worth $250.

Nice CAs are worth $10-15K? Granted, the starting point on the Texas car isn't the best, but it's far better than many Northern cars. Look at Gerry Hulsey's rusting hulks (yes, I know he didn't pay much of anything for the cars, I have known Gerry for many, many years.) and then look at the Texas car. At least the door handles aren't rusted of like his New Lebanon car!

The Texas car could theoretically bring $2500 on ebay even when the ebay market is mediocre.

Think about it this way guys, there's only so many of these cars to go around.

If I paid $250 for a top boot for my Cutlass, I'll pay $300 for a spoiler from a CA.

Even the wheel well mouldings look good on the Texas car. Rick, didn't you pay almost $400 for a NOS set? and $65 for a gas cap?

$380 to be exact. They are absolutely beautiful! The guy is selling another 3 W.O. mouldings in the near future.
