Here, just for grins, is an ugly stepsister to the nice cars depicted thus far in this thread.

This '73 Lemans Sport GT, a factory original four-speed, has been sitting in a barn for nine years.

Despite the "400" grille emblem, it was originally a 350 car, so it's outfitted with a Saginaw rather than a T10.

The 400 emblem actually has some validation. The engine in the car is a '69 GTO 400 with 30K on a full rebuild. It soon will be going to a new home in my brother-in-law's '69 Firebird.

Sad to see it has declined so much. I bet it was a fun car to drive when it was in better shape.

Question

Will this car be parted out?

Smile I love that car Bill Morgan....

Just copied this from another post of mine.....

.....isn't this hobby about saving a car like that, doesn't working on a car and bringing it back to life bring excitement? I'd have 10 cars like that if I had the time and space, a little challenge makes the end result all that more worthwhile and rewarding. Just getting the parts together for the restore would be a blast.....lots worse have won concourse awards when done. I guess I just love old cars, relics or mint, makes no difference.

I'm nearing the end of the restoration of my dream car, a '67 GTO four-speed hardtop, so I'll be parting out the '73 Lemans Sport GT.

It's a non-AC car with power steering and non-power brakes.

It's quite sound...floorpans, doors and fenders are solid...with the exception of some small rust perforations, byproducts of the now-gone vinyl top, around the rear quarter windows. The only perforation I've found below the beltline is a nickel-sized hole in the front corner of the left trunk pocket. It's visible from the outside at the lower rear corner of the left rear wheelwell.

I have plenty of pictures of every aspect of the car.

I've not yet bothered with it, but I can secure clear title to the car.

That '73 should be an easy sell without the motor, as a project car. Especially given that it's a four speed car. Four speed 73-77 A's are quite rare.

Selling it as a project car would be easier, and quicker, than parting it out.

It should sell rather quicky solely based on that fact, and being solid..

Thumbs up Double Mint!

Yes, the Poncho looks real fine, I'd have to say that the black interior really is right on this car, most seem to be firethorn red, but the black is nice. Good luck with the car.

Now, tell us about the Blue Brother's Mopar that's pulled in behind in photo #1!

Wink

That is my Dodge Monaco that I have had for a while. It is currently on E-bay. It needs to go so that I can focus on finishing my '76 LeMans police car, and the other Can Am that I am picking up in Virginia in a week.

The one that I have now will be kept as stock as possible, and shown. The other will be modified with a 4 speed, and other options/changes since it is rough to begin with. Nice thing is that both have black guts. I had a couple with the red, and I didn't really care for them as much.

The red isn't my first choice. The tan looks good but as they said in S&B2 - "Black is beautiful... Expensive too."

Bill sent me more pics of the 1973 GT. I'm really confused about these cars. My car was probably the last '73 GT built because the build date was 07E and that might explain some things like having argent grilles as opposed to black like GTs were to have as I have read. My car was kinda thrown together with parts left over in Atlanta, I think. It was a Florentine Red GT, white stripes and interior, bench seat, 3 speed on floor with a Muncie shifter, AM radio, sport mirrors (left remote) and 3.42 posi. No PS, no PB, no A/C.

Bill's car, he says, was originally a 350 car like mine with a 4 speed whereas my car had a 3 speed Saginaw. Yet it has argent 400 grilles. It's a hardtop coupe yet it has a Sport Coupe interior. The trunk lid has obviously been replaced with one from a Sport Coupe. So I'm wondering if the interior had been replaced from the same car? If so, what was the original interior? Was it a bench seat car or bucket? You have to wonder how this car lived its life and what has been replaced and why.

It's my understanding that GTs recieved the NACA hood, black grilles and Rally IIs. My car had 14x7 Rally IIs factory with trim rings. From the trim rings on Bill's car, they look like 15s.

Just the weird things these cars had, I guess.

I wouldn't doubt the grilles having been changed, given the 400 emblem on a 350 car.

I searched through the scores of pictures I have of this car and found I don't have shots of the VIN and cowl tags. I'll get those tomorrow and post 'em. I make no claim of expertise on the '73-'77 cars, so I may learn something.

The car is badged as a Sport Coupe and striped as a GT. I've attached an illustrative picture.

I don't believe the decklid has been replaced. The paint on the underside corresponds to the original color and matches that remaining around the lip of the trunk opening. I believe, instead, the original paint has been sanded off the exterior. I also added a picture of the underside of the decklid to illustrate my supposition.

The Rally II wheels are 15-inchers.

Here's the 1973 Sport Coupe brochure. The Sport Coupe recieved the louvered quarter windows and your car has the standard windows.

My 1973 GT had the standard windows with LeMans badging.

Very weird!
