Here are some better pictures. It really is a great year for GTO. Very unique, and nicely proportioned. Especially that rear deck!

That is beautiful!!!! I have a 67 GTO as well as a 73 Grand Am and I don't think either one is better looking than the other. I would love a 73 GTO to put in the stable.

Love the 73!
Is that a high performance pontiac plate on the front of the 73?
there were some great styling in the 73-77's A bodies!

Judge...how about another interior shot from the pasenger side? I find the bench seat interesting, but even more interesting is the auto-shifter on the floor. Was this car perhaps a bucket seat with console at one time? Seems like an awful lot of trouble changing out the steering column just to move the shifter to the floor and keep the bench seat.

Judge, I see where you said it was a 4-speed. That one picture though, is hard to tell from the lighting, but that looks like an automatic brake pedal, and not two seperate pedals.

I can make out the 2 pedals and the 4 speed pattern on the knob, so I feel safe in saying it's a 4 speed .

Default Update on 73 GTO purchase

Just wanted to let everyone know that I was not able to pick the car up this past weekend. My wife and I are in the process of doing some home repairs in order to place it up for sale. Got a little busy and could not find the time to get the car. Called the guy I'm buying it from and reassured him that I still want it and he said my word was good enough for him. I'll keep you posted.

Default 73 Black Goat

Sorry for not responding as it is not my car. But it is my cousin's car. He told me that it is a 4-speed car. As far as better pictures of interior and out. If you have the Bill Holder's book on GTO's. See pages 63-65.

Default Honey.....just one more Pontiac......please????????

Well, I'm the the proud owner of a '73 GTO. I purchased the car today, but the guy did not have it out where I could get it loaded on a trailer. He has a couple other cars in the way and will have to move them to be able to get the car out of from where it has been hibernating. He did say that he would use his rollback wrecker to load the car and bring it to my house so that will be a bonus. Can't wait to get it home so I can check it out real good. Kinda hoping that it is not too far gone to be restored. The more I look at the later model A-body cars the more I would like to have one that I can drive. So why not make it a GTO? I'll let ya'll know more on it later, Don.

Thanks David. I appreciate the offer! I think what finally convinced the wife about the car was we took the GP out yesterday for an afternoon drive and she had a blast. Just like old times with she and I in a classic Pontiac. Sorry I did not give you a shout saturday, my honey-do list keeps growing.

That black bench seat 73 GTO is a 4 speed car and was purchased from a member of our local GTO club. I have only seen 1 73 GTO that was nicer than this one. Jim

As long as the honey-do list progresses the cars list will grow. You got the right idea!

Just nosing around in forums other than the ones I normally visit...
I think the subject car of this thread is a very neat car (engine, color combo, rarity) and worthy of a proper restoration

Seems like the popularity of these cars is gaining as well... I had a gentleman drive up and down the street; slowing down to check out my latest '76 and he stopped and talked with me about it. Pretty cool.....

Default Update......

Well, I called the guy I bought the car from thursday afternoon to see when he was going to bring it to my house. He said that he would bring it friday afternoon. Then he calls me later in the evening to ask if it was ok if he got it to me monday morning because it rained "cats and dogs" here yesterday and he could not get to the back of his property to get it. Needless to say I was disappointed, but I guess I will have to wait on him. Just FYI.

Man, thats like getting teased, but, owning the cars that I do, I understand where the owner is coming from.
You will enjoy the car!
The do seem to be catching on, after being ignored for years.
Not quite the factory performance as the years before them but nothing that a little wrenching cant change.

I like to see this. Seeing underdogs, like the 73 & 74 GTOs get some attention is awesome!
