Damn cool! Wish I could afford that, but whoever gets it, has a very cool "1st edition"

Yep, congrats on the bids, and too will be interesting to see where the final bid ends and where the system is installed.

I'm waiting until a reproduction system is brought to market in the $600-$800 price range. With the technology out there right now, this should prove doable. The Parts Place should get on board with this.

This Ram Air system will never be reproduced by The Parts Place ,you will wait forever. Molds, Dyes, run costs, are huge.

There is not enough demand for it to be mass produced.

I'm sure 30 setups would sell fairly quick as long as the price could be held to under $800. It is low demand, but only the lid and the sheetmetal hood piece would need to be tooled. The rest of the stuff is out there.

its great that an enthusiast built this...years ago i reproduced some AMC stuff....i lost my ass..but i did it because it needed to be done for me and a few friends...then the market took notice and someone did it big time..and i was fine with it.....

Even though i have no interest in buying one..i appreciate and applaud someone taking on a project like this..i really do

E-bay is a good test to see what people will pay.
It would be difficult to sell an accurate reproduction for under $1000 because of the low volume. If you tell a plastics molder you only want a few hundred made, they will stare at you in disbelief and will probably want to be paid up front.

At least the blueprints for most of these parts are available thanks to the Goad family and Tim Dye at the Pontiac-Oakland museum.

Tooling costs for the lid would be in the $50K to $75K range.
Tooling costs for the pan might be around $20k.
The foam seals and the screens are no problem, but there are a bunch of other parts you have to come up with. You have to offer a 73-74 TA (or 74 GTO) air cleaner assembly too.

As technology improves it may be possible to print the lid. This is may be economical for up to 100 pieces, but, put per-piece price will be very high.

You have to look at how many 73 Abodys that are left which is not many. Maybe 33% of those people are willing to spend $1200 on the ram air system. Just my opinion.

The system will fit up to 1975, so there are more prospective buyers for it. I doubt a whole lot (myself included) will spend $1200 for a system...

Yes it will fit but not correct. I agree $800 should be a good price.

Could be. Not being a "Bay Watcher" how would one know when it is the last hr?

Could this be made with 3D-printing or are the parts too big?
