Default put a gto shifter on my holden

I had a stock holden 6 speed shifter in my car , and wanted to upgrade to the new GTO stitched leather shifter !

so i pulled the old one off ( with great difficulty ) , only to find that the new shaft made the knob face at 10 oclock ... , so took it off again and checked against the standard shaft , and yep ! the slot was offset 30 degrees ... sheesh

so i put the new satin knob on the old shaft ( which is about an inch shorter ) and it fit perfectly !

Nice mod... the old shifter looked like it came out of a Fiat.

yeah , looks heaps better ...

i also changed the dash , to the "piano black" finish as it came on the 1st series monaros, the GTO was second series from the start - totally different dash.

I think shifting with my left hand would freak me out.

Can't watch youtube here on gov computers but I was stationed in Japan for 4 yrs. Being left handed....it was very easy to adapt. Talk about being able to speed shift!!!! Don't think my 84 Toyota Lite Ace liked me too much for it but still kept on a truckin'. What was tough though was when we took a 2 week trip to Hawaii and I rented a car. "Uh dear...you're on the wrong side of the road"......Oh f&(*!!!! Sure would like to go back to Tassie for a visit though.
