I am in agreement with several others here. I wouldn't balk at 5k and wouldn't be able to get him the money fast enough. I have lost too many deals by waiting.

We spoke today. He wants to make sure his BIL doesn't want to buy it, and if he doesn't I get first shot at it. Hopefully I have good news by the end of the week. Fingers crossed.

If you get it, I would be interested in the KRs for my 72. Mark

Got the car home today. We had to drag it out of the driveway with the truck, but once we did that the wheels broke free and it rolled pretty easy. It winched up the trailer with ease, and off it went to it's new home.
The car isn't too rusty considering it's been sitting outside for 20+ years. I took a bunch of pictures, including pics of the numbers on the carb, distributer, intake, and radiator. I'll get the numbers off the trans and rear end once I get it on the lift. The block is WS. I haven't got to the VIN stamp yet The heads are #12's The carb is #7040270 The distributer is # 1112024 The wheels are all JW's. When I took a pic of the wheel during my initial post, I just picked one wheel to take a pic of. That one was a KR, but the car has 3 JW's on it, and the owner included 2 more JW's for a total of 5 wheels. He also threw in a new front spoiler. We power washed the car down once we got home, and you can really see the difference! The first 3 pics are the car at the previous owners house. After those are pics showing what it looked like before power washing.

Awesome originality and nice pix too!
Fits the profile of a SR carb as well. Lots of goodies like complete WS, JWs and thin lip shaker and air cleaner assembly. Curious to why it doesn't have 70 bucket seats?

Colour me jealous! Congrats on getting the deal done. Poor thing looks like its about 6 months away from being a parts car, but I know you can put it back to its former glory. Nice winter project.

Wow good to see you got it, I have a decent stash of 70 TA stuff and may be able to help out, interesting to see it has 71 seats. I would be interested in the KR also if you part with it, and I am close. Mark

[QUOTE=72projectbird;5919950] The original 70 seats were stolen over 30 years ago, along with the original AM radio.
Great deal and congratulations on being successful in the purchase! Missing the original 7040273 but 0270 is an expensive carb too. What are the plans for it now? |

Thanks guys! It's been pretty cool uncovering all the codes on this car and discovering what it's all about. I'll be sure to keep updating the thread as I go along!

If you have a set, I definitely could use them. I plan on replacing the covers and foam anyways, so as long as the frames and headrests are good I'd be interested.
