I emailed PYPEs the sound clip and one of these days, they will try to post it. It is not nearly as good as hearing them for real but for low resolution, it is pretty decent.

The low resolution sound is posted here and it will give you a rough idea of the VOE's sound.
Thanks Steve and Chris

They sound AWESOME, Tom - even if they were tested on your 'cuda, LOL!

Makes me wish I had a '70 to install them on!

The 70 VOE GTO has been running with the last set we made but it is not driving yet. So far though, the mufflers seem to be working and sounding as stock as we had hoped they would.
I am ordering parts for another build. We plan to assemble a few more that are either close to stock configuration or slightly varied from it. As soon as I get more information to share, I will do so. I am thinking it will be about six weeks but it depends upon shipping times and welder scheduling.

Perhaps you can end up making a couple of versions. I for one, do not want mine to sound absolutely stock. It would be nice if there was one that had a nice mellow rumble in the closed position, maybe like a long turbo muffler, and then would get nasty when opened. VOE Plus?

Perhaps you can end up making a couple of versions.

Yakker, in fact, we are assembling several different ones but the difference is size and outlet orientation. Internally, you cannot vary much from the original design or you screw up either the loud or the quiet mode. If you do this, it is hard to differentiate between the two.

I for one do not want mine to sound absolutely stock.

Since I have never heard a dead stock one, I am not sure how close I got. These do have a nice mellow sound (when closed) but they are still quiet when measuring sound levels.

It would be nice if there were one that had a nice mellow rumble in the closed position, maybe like a long turbo muffler, and then would get nasty when opened.

Doing this would end up with a muffler that sounds similar open and closed I am afraid. It is pretty darn tough to get all the sound out of one mode but get it all back in the other mode.

Thanks for your comments and I will continue to share results as we get them.

Tom just e-mailed me pictures of a VOE muffler going together. My pair might be next! Eat your hearts out, if you didn't get in on this deal!

In fact Jack, I hope the remaining materials will be shipped today. We await some water jetting that may occur early next week. Seems this time of year is really busy for fabrication and machine shops!

Wow, congrats, they sound great. I am sure there is a market for them. Any dyno/performance tests set up with the cars they have been installed on? Have you decided to try a 3" size?

Ron,
There physically is not room (internally) to create a 3.0" in and out version. This is because it would require a bypass valve that is 3.5" diameter since we only use actuators that pull 0.675". This 3.5" valve will require space we do not have. With the 9.25" wide shell, 2.5" is about the best we can do and that took some creative engineering. Note how I shifted the outlet to the left slightly?
When this first set (of six pair in work) is finished, we will get them on three dfferent cars (my 340, Dad's 470, and the 428 Cobra-Jet Torino. I will also test them on a Superflow 600 bench to see how restrictive they are in both modes.
Should have sound and flow numbers to share soon I hope.
Tom
