Nice pipes! I've been considering 3" mufflers and tail pipes for my '76. Not sure about ground clearance with the large mufflers though.

Pittsburgh, Jim and Tom Hand have done some extensive exhaust system testing. Not only have they tested mufflers but they also tested crossovers. Check http://www.boyleworks.com/ta400/psp/exhaust.html for the complete run down. The X is unlike a Y in that the X branches back out into two separate pipes where the Y necks into a single pipe.

Rocky, I saw several 2nd gen TA's at Norwalk with 3" exhaust and no clearance issues. It's not so much the mufflers as it is the pipes traveling under the floor boards. I did notice that both cars I remember had very good suspensions. Their cars probably sat and inch or 2 higher than stock.

Just to let the members know.
Yesterday the 2 1/2 chrome Tips arrived!
they were packaged very well!

Usually I'm found working on my Pontiac. If you want to find me Look for the white picket fence and all the old Pontiacs parked outside. And the half dissembled engine sprawled all over the driveway!

If you order the Pypes 2 1/2 kit then the ones I have are the ones you use.
If you have stock exhaust the tips are smaller
Check out the Removed exhaust pix I posted.
