Default Check These Out! OBX Headers for A-Bodies.

Just got these headers today. I found these headers on ebay so I ordered some. For the price they had I thought I would take a chance. Says they are for 64-72 A-bodies with Round port exhaust. They look like Doug's Headers. They look the same and have the same size tubing and collectors. They are 1 7/8 primaries and 3 1/2 collector size. They are polished SS also. Can't see how they sell them for only $249. They are very nice headers and have very nice tig welds. Total shipped to my door was $284. You can find them on ebay sold through racingpartsdepot. They also shipped them the same day I ordered them. They are made by OBX Racing Sports. Here's some pics.

those are nice, i seen them a couple weeks ago on ebay, lookin forward to hearing how the fitment is, i was worried about the 64-72 fitment they say since 64-7 is a little tighter than the 68-72 cars

Chinese, I saw those too and did some research. I was hoping since alot of A body headers also fit 2nd Gen F body. I'd like to get some roundport heads and check fitment on a Ta.

They are polished stainless steel. I don't know where they were made but I would find it hard to believe they would have tig welds as nice as these if they were Chinese made. Although I could be wrong. If you look at a picture of Dougs Headers and compare them with these they look identical. I can tell you looking at them in person they are nice headers. I'm not going to be able get them on my car for a little while to see how they fit.

OBX been making stuff for turbo ex manifold for 4 cylinder for the past 8 years. The welds that they do is very impressive and also it is stainless. They are cheap but I think the fitment isn't all that precise. They are chinese stuff back then but hey maybe the tide has change. If they have a roundport for a 70/81 TA, I mught pick one up as it doesn't need coating which cost about as much as the headers.

OBX isn't anything you should be looking at. Chinese might be a nice term. Not trying to be negative just honest.

I bought a set of their stainless headers + stainless downpipe for my 1993 corolla after the downpipe rusted. $140 shipped to my house. All stainless steel with nice looking welds. The replacement aluminized steel downpipe was goingh to be $110. I've been very happy with the purchase. They supposedly have a lifetime warranty too.

I missed the C or Chinese, don't mean to be racist or anything as I am an oriental. OBX is real cheap compare the work that they provide. If you showed their product to anyone who makes headers they will tell you how beautiful the product and tig welding. I don't have any idea how can they make money selling this.

Man - usually in time the Chinese "will" repro stuff well. Early stuff usually is bad, but after awhile they get it right. I wouldn't put it past the chinese to repro doug's for half the price...

I think radiators are following suite - arent' they??

And BTW, 73TA - I thought calling someone "oriental" was an ethnic slur - thought the correct term was "Asian". Anyway - school me on what is correct!!

I guess to me Asian or Oriental is the same but to others maybe not. I grew up here so it don't bother me none just don't call me XXXXXX.

Doug's is now part of Pertronix...They probably get them from the same Chinese manufacturer and charge $750+ (Summit). I typically do not like to buy parts for my GTO that are not USA made, but I am seriously thinking about a set for my 428/round port motor.

Will 2nd gen Fbody round port headers fit an early A body?

"but I would find it hard to believe they would have tig welds as nice as these if they were Chinese made"

why would you think that? they can buy the same robot welders as the pertronix factory uses. In fact, those robotics are now made in China.

So has anyone slid these on? Heck you'd spend that much for parts to build your own.

FWIW it can't be a worse fit than the Hedman 1 3/4 that are supposed to fit A body and second gen round ports. One tube hit the firewall on each side and the collectords pointed at odd angles! Sent them back to Hedman(made in America) and they said I must have moved the engine back as they fit the jig-so I was SOL! I really wanted that size so I re did two tubes each side and they slid right on my TA AND I could get to every bolt.

BVR421,
I also said "I could be wrong". I'm not putting the Chinese down I'm just going by what other people say about Chinese products. I don't really know anything about how they manufacture stuff or what kind of equipment they use. Not trying to offend anyone.
All I know is that looking at these headers in person, they are very nice.
