Anyone familiar with an "X-celerator"? Never seen or heard of this.

Heard of it, never seen one in action. Single plane.
That one's for a Chevy engine.

Did they even make them for Pontiac engines? I've never been able to find out for sure myself.

The price pretty much sums it up.

That's a great manifold for a SBC if prepared properly. Weiand never made one for a Pontiac.

Seen and held a Weiand 4 BBl aluminum dualplane manifold in the early 80's, and the prevailing opinion at the time was it was probably the worst performing 4bbl manifold for 400s and larger. I dunno, probably. Wonder if it was a scream for 326-350s?

I think the Offy single fo' would give the Weiand a run for it's money.

Weiand MIGHT have offered a 6-71 intake in the early days... I saw an Edelbrock 6-71 intake on a Pontiac fuel dragster(59 389AN block with 59 x stamped heads) at Holley HotRod reunion a couple years ago. Rail was built at end of 59 and Edelbrock blower intake and belt drive were added in early 60's(was chain drive and different intake originally). Rail was out of Texas and was talking to original owner/builder. I should have wrote his name down. Cool piece and I'll have to go thru a huge file of pics and hope it wasnt one of a hundred or so I hadnt backed up. |

Actually it ran strong above 4500 on a 400 with a 780 (3310-1). I still have one. Got something to test it on? The ports are std gasket size. The "runners" are short and there is alot more plenum than an HSD. |

No thanks on the testing, Bruce. The Offy single four looked similar to their 2x4 but with the carb mounted in the center. The Weiand manifold looked like they put a little effort into the design. It'd be interesting to see a Weiand Pontiac blower manifold (if they made one). Recently I saw a Pontiac Offenhauser 6-71 manifold and was suprised to see they used the single four manifold for the conversion rather than a 2x4.
