Ah . . . I forgot to bring up that 350 4V deal. Thanks, Lyn.

Attached are a couple photos of another (rather famous) '72 LeMans GT, also an L78 M22 car. Can anyone guess why this particular LeMans is a one-of-one car?

Not so sure I'd call the '72 L78 "brutal", however . . .

Please note the correct, awesome, perfect tail-down stance, as well as the G60x15 Goodyears on KR Rally IIs!

Lloyd, isn't Forrest's 72 vert a GT? Pretty sure it is a 455 but can't recall whether it is a D-Port or H.O.

Speaking of Forrest - has anyone heard from him lately? Haven't talked with him in a couple years - maybe more.

BJ

To answer your question on the L78 M22 72 GT above - IIRC it is the only one with a true factory ducktail spoiler because the mold broke or something?

BJ

Haven't spoken with or heard from Forrest in quite a while myself, BJ. I hope he's OK!

And his '72 'vert is indeed a GT, and a 455HO car to boot. Good looking LeMans!

You get the prize, BJ. It's one of two factory ducktail spoiler equipped '72's. I can't recall if the other is a GT, a GTO or ???.

Skwirblie's Sundance Orange GTO (in Illinois) has been proven to NOT have been so equipped from the factory. His has an over the counter spoiler.

Is there a PHS for the GT at the beginning of this thread?

How do we know it's a factory ducktail car?

It HAS to be a factory ducktail car as it was furnished by Pontiac Motor Division to Hot Rod Magazine for this March 1972 article. Still owned by PMD at that time.

But who's to say the spoiler was a factory piece? Could have been installed after it was built before sent to the fleet.

OK, you could be technically correct, Diego. Since I've never seen an invoice for this car . . .

can anyone confirm that was a yellow car?

I believe the other duck tail car was a GTO.

The article states that the car was finished in a bright yellow.

Sorry it took so long to get back, new owner took awhile to confirm what I'd suspected. It is indeed a y Code GT convertible car. The info is now online and will appear in an article online soon.

Repainted and rerusted with stripes remnants in door jambs... Sounds like a total restoration is needed.

Cool car, one option code away from perfection.
