Default 79 trans am trunk color

Hi, I believe the trunk color in my 79 is original. It appears to be a flat black but when I look online, the colors seem to always have a mixture. I'm going to have to go the cheap route for now and use cans from Eastwood ( do not have a spray gun). The closest thing to me is the black/gray. Would one of the other colors be more accurate?
Thanks for any advice.

For what its worth, all the low mileage unrestored TAs I've seen from the 1980-81 era had very low gloss black paint under their trunk mats. These were Norwood cars by the way. Why not have a look online at some cars reputedly to be un restored originals?

I sprayed some eastwood undercoating out of a rattle can in my trunk. It goes on thin, and seems to me to duplicate the original coating perfectly after it dries.

I did some touch up work in the trunk of my original 79 t/a and used eastwoods under hood semi gloss black - 10% - 20% gloss - p/n 10024z - was happy with it matching the present condition of the trunk. wish i would of thought of the eastwood undercoating as i think it would hold up better to the abuse from golf clubs and car show chairs.

Around 1977-early 78 they changed from the spatter paint to black, probably phased in until it ran out so some may have slipped through.

the 79 trunk is in black primer, the floor pan got a satin black paint. the inside of the 1/4's and behind the seat/speaker area was left in blk primer. the tail panel on the inside of the trunk is the body color. the trunk mat if you had one , was a dealer install. and would be on the dealer info on the PHS.

when I did mine I used a roll on truck bed liner. it looks really good.

Thanks guys,
I wound up using Eastwood's black/grey spackle with low luster clearcoat. I had a little light surface rust, so I put a good coat of rust encapsulator down first. I did the floor of the trunk, inner quarters, and the "behind the seat" area all the same. I know it's not factory correct but I like the way it turned out. Thanks again for all the advice.

In 79 the felt trunk mat was standard equipment.
