It is interesting that it has the deluxe interior which is evident from the Hobnail cloth but the pedals do not have the silver trim on them. That feature was included with the deluxe interior.

It's kinda hard to see the gas pedal in the picture, but it has the trim. I think the trim on the brake pedal might've been kicked off at some point. I still haven't cleaned all the junk out of the car (trunk is full of crap) the trim may be in there somewhere...

Yes, I DO know what the difference is. Just did a little bit of double talking on my post.
I know there was a time when some items became mandatory in certain option packages, but alot of that was later on in the eighties, which is what I'm used to seeing. Wasn't the automatic trans mandatory with all 78-79 403 cars? Or vise-versa
Just so unusual to see a non A/C 79-81 Trans Am. And I don't claim to be an authority on the 2nd gens.

I don't believe that GM ever smog/epa certified a 403 with manual trans.

ALL Trans ams sold new in California in 77,78 & 79 came with 403/auto.(there was no engine transmission choices)

For the rest of America (and Canada) you had to specify a different engine if you wanted to change gears manually.

Yes it is. It's one of the best things I have done to my car.

I have the original version (Doug Nash Street) that i've run in several of my birds over the last 20 years & it's STILL a THRILL when you nail the loud pedal.

Those are most likely the aftermarket "American" brand T-tops. Only problem you will have is if it needs weather strips you'll have to get creative and make your own.

they are actual Hurst hatch t-tops...says so on the glass and the bag I found in the trunk. And yeah, pretty much all the weatherstrip in the car is toast. I'm waiting for a gas tank for it...I'm dying to get it home and start playing with it!

Wow, hurst tops? Wonder how that came about? Also weird about taking that long to get gas tanks. I get mine next day when I order them.

my guess at this point is that the t-tops were dealer-installed. I never actually talked to the original owner to find out. The gas tanks are made up the street from my shop, shipped to Chicago, and shipped back here...and it's cheaper that way. Makes no sense to me!!
