Yeah, Only about $6000.00 or so! It is very neat car, but they don't bring that kind of money!

Lyn, maybe these don't bring that kind of money, but I sure as hell would want one more than a certain '63 Tempest that needed total restoration. If this GP had it's odometer reduced by half, it'd be worth the $12 grand in my eyes.
Only thing I don't like about this is I'm not a fan of the glass tops.

I have a little bit of a problem with this statement:
Quote:
Factory Race SuperDuty 4 Speed Transmission. Complete from the factory with a Push Button Ingnition located under the air filter.
Somebody fill me in on what the hell he's talking about here.

And where do these quotes on 4-speed production come from? I've never seen any concrete numbers published for anything this vintage. Just estimates. Does it state that in the PHS? I doubt it. This guy doesn't mention a PHS so he likely doesn't have one.

Seems a little strange this doesn't have tilt steering, but it has the two most expensive & rare options; T-tops and real wire wheels.

Not trying to slight this car, but have seen low mile, clean 4-speeds bring less than half this. Of coarse they wern't black with t-tops and wire wheels! It is neat car, just to much money IMHO!

I have a 79 Grand Am 4 speed car, that needs a restoration. Complete car however. I have Canadian docs on the car and it says number imported for sale in Canada, same model only 834 29 with M20 Which is the 4 speed saginaw trans.

After I posted last evening, I noticed that this listing has the Make Offer option rather than bidding. The $12,000 is a Buy-It-Now - not so much a firm price. If they can attract someone willing to jump on that, more power to them, but the description does declare:
Quote:
We have done alot of reseach on this car, but no one can tell us what she is valued at because of the rarity, It does not look like any have been on the market for a long time. So we will be accepting offers and we are sure ebay will let us know.
I think they will eventually sell it for less than $10,000. The high miles does hurt the value, but I believe the true rarity (4-speed) of how it's optioned should vastly out weigh the mileage, IMHO.
Being very complete and very original has alot of clout on this hard to find specimen.

As opposed to the "Factory Race SuperDuty 4-speed".

I'm not certain, but I don't think tilt wheel was available on the 79 4spd Grand Am or Grand Prix.
I like these cars, had a 4spd Grand Am several years ago (which was on CL at $5975, still in as nice of condition as it was when I had it). This one has great options and colors and IMHO it is still priced (asking, but it does say REASONABLE in the text) about double what is realistically it's value.

The seller contacted me a few weeks ago asking about the car. He has traced it back to the 2 previous owners.(he is the 3rd I believe) I'm a little disappointed that he didn't clean it up. It could be presented much better. (non of the info in the listing came from me btw)

It's actually pretty loaded. No delay wipers, tilt or climate control if that was available.I'm not sure what the radio should be. He has not ordered the PHS, though I highly recommended that he get one asap.

I do have a tilt column for a manual trans, but I'm not sure what it was offered in. It will be in a Carmine/Platinum Grand Am one day..

I would love to have this car and would prefer the T-Tops (with a Landau top)

It may be a little rear but it looks like a pit. Really needs to be cleaned up good. If you want to sell a car present it better not looking like you just had a party at the beach in it.

That's a bit extreme imo.

Buy it Now has been reduced to $7500.
I think he wants to sell it. I just hope it goes to a good home.

This car is listed on Charlotte Craigslist also. From the pictures of the houses in the background I may know where this car is. May go check it over as from the engine pic it appears to be a 301. Myself I'm not crazy about the T-tops but with a rare four speed I could live with them.

For the price its selling for now I would be interested. If they had run it at this price on ebay it might have sold. It appears to be a nice car! Let us know what its like if you check it out or end up buying it!
