Default Broken arm rest in 79 TA

I have a broken armrest in a 10th Anniv TA - On the upper portion where you pull, it has pulled away from the door panel. My question..... Has anybody used the repair kit that our host, PY offers...part #RF1301 - (It seems all the 78/79 cars I've had has had one side broken!!)

Is the grab part of the handle on yours flexible? If so, it is the original. I've tried to glue the hard plastic end back into the flexible vinyl and it only lasted a short time. GM later redesigned the handle so that it is solid through the grap portion. This version will last forever. I don't know if the reproductions are also made this way.

If the hard plastic piece is not broken into a bunch of little pieces, you should be able to take it to a body shop and they can bond it back into the handle with the right adhesive.
My new one broke and I did that and it has been fine ever since.

Yes, I've used that exact same repair kit on both armrests in one of my 79's. They had both pulled off the screws. Works great to re-fasten the pull part of the armrest to the door, and it won't pull out again after the repair. I think they should be used even on new armrests to prevent them from pulling away in the first place.
