Default Trans Am rear calipers the same as Cadillac calipers?

Going through some things on my '79. Started on the rear brakes today- the calipers are pretty trashed. It seems like no one has even rebuilt calipers in stock. After looking everywhere on the internet, I've seen a few that say the '79-'85 Cadillac Seville/Seville rear calipers are basically the same- and for some reason they are in stock at several places... online anyway.
I'd like to get this thing back together ASAP so if the Caddy parts are the same...

Yes they are. I’ve used them before on my first TA I added the rear discs to.

Just remember for the TA there is a right and left caliper for the ratchet E brake pull since the drivers is in front and passengers behind the axle. Some will have an L or R stamped in the stud but not all do. If you do not care about an E brake late 70s early 80s Malibu "metric" D154 calipers work.

I went through this long ago with rear calipers my 79 TA. I'm pretty sure that the 79 Seville rear calipers are the only ones that are the same part as the 79-81 TA rear calipers.

If you look up part numbers at a parts store website, the 80 and up Sevilles use a different part number than the 79-81 TA's.

'79 Seville was the last rear-drive with basically the same chassis as the F-body. The '80-up Sevilles were FWD.

And the '77-'78 Sevilles had the larger rear calipers (same size as the fronts, but with smaller pistons). You COULD retrofit those onto an F-body if you use the mating backing plates. I had a pair on my '66 GTO for a while.

And for all these iron Moraine rear calipers, you must install and use the parking brake. That's how they adjust for pad wear. Otherwise, you'll notice the brake pedal getting lower and lower as the pads wear.

I have a set of calipers, brackets, and all the other stuff from a 81 T/A (somewhere in my garage...). BUT I plan to install a rear disc setup from S-10 Blazer on my T/A. It eliminate those ratcheting calipers, and the S-10 setup uses shoes inside the rotor for park brake application, a much better design...

You might also want to consider sending your originals out to a rebuilder and have them sleeved with stainless steel inserts.
