Default Low Friction Grease for Front End?

Hey Everybody,

What grease do you use for greasing a drag front end?

Thanks, Craig

Many of the guys use the green marine grease and they use very little. But I have a Friend who is a very. Fast stock eliminator racer and he uses moroso climbing gear lube only. And very little of it. Of course this is an all out drag car that gets pushed to the line. The bearings are polished in a special way . Everything is scienced out in this car you can push it around with 1 finger.
Btw in lieu of moroso climbing gear lube you can use bar and chain oil for a chain saw.

Very narrow front tires will save you far more hp in terms of rotating mass reduction then playing around with how a bearing is lubricated.

You've touched on the most important point....use very little. It takes power to plow the ball thru a wad of grease and to keep pushing it around. It's the same effect as you getting into a swimming pool and trying to walk around. Clearly, using only a little grease isn't great for a car that accumulates a lot of miles.

Interesting side story. I needed to check the balance on the Boss Bird front wheels. They are spindle mount so they don't fit on a regular tire balancer. I took the grease seals out, washed all of the grease out, sprayed the bearings with WD-40, reassembled them with the spindle nut finger tight. Hand spun them and they would keep spinning for several minutes. I knew the balance was good because they would stop in different places after each spin.

Very helpful on the wheel bearings - More about the grease for the free movement of the suspension - poly control arm bushings, ball joints tie rod ends, etc.

Thanks, Crig

I believe this is the grease mentioned. Super slick and slimy and it's hard to wipe off.

This stuff is interesting i bought it out of curiosity, Its not really a grease and its not an oil its consistancy is a little thicker than STP if you stick a Q'tip in it , it strings when you pull it out it is slick

I woulnt say that, a narrow front tile will save you something, but stock eliminator guys don’t do things that don’t work for Ets savings.
They torch and heat front end parts to get rid of bump steer, they make rear end housings so that under load they are dead straight so there no tire scrubbing,
They send out Most anything that rolls for polishing and that includes bearings and I mean super polishing. Lighter weight oils and grease . Most of the tricks stick eliminator guys employ you’ll never hear about it’s kept VERY close to the vest (at least the very good ones) In a class where. hP and torque are VERY hard to come by they literally science out every single part of a race car.

A freind of mine has a very good running stock elim car and you spin that front tire on the lift and go in and eat dinner and come back out and it’s still spinning

Certainly worth looking at it.

When reading items of stock cars be it NHRA or others keep in mind people will sometimes throw out a tip that will run you off the correct path to being fast so take each with a grain of salt. And differnt cars like different things.

A 283 Chevy might like something a big block or a torquey Pontiac might not .

Years ago my car had the nuts on the top of the shocks backed off so they had a 1 inch free travel before the shocks came into play some cars that works in some cars it doesn’t. Some cars like a Lois suspension some don’t. My stick car liked the tires hit hard loose susoension out back others. Don’t . Some stick cars don’t.

Many dint relaize the old Lakewood bars had a rear u bolt over the sort many don’t know why
Though. It woukd slow the separation at a certain point so that the suspension didn’t over reach past the shock extension you could somewhat tune the separation w slapper bars with that addition.

As far as the original question, this grease was on that NEGP website, looked it up, apparently it’s a thing. Expensive
