Just bought a Doug nash 4+1 race transmission for my 63 tempest gasser build. Will it live behind a 550 pounds of torque. Behind a 455

I beat on mine with reckless abandon on street tires so far. Zero issues. 455 estimated 450 hp. Got it cheap enough from B man on the board years ago. I use the long shifter.

All depends on the ratios mainly first gear in it. Not sure if my old Richmond catalog has the TQ ratings in it I's look tonight. It does for their ST-10s. Back in the day you could give them the Nash serial number and they could look up what ratios it had. Mine was a "NHRA Stocker" so 4th and 5th were 1:1. I swapped out some gears and now 2.80, 2.22, 1.77, 1.33, 1.0.
