Default Help cant get poverty caps back on, 71 Lemans

They were on the car before, so i know they can fit, but i cant get the poverty caps to go over all the nubs on the wheel. Dont want to damage anything, is there some kind of trick to doing this?

I bought the tool to put on and remove. They gotta be tight or they will fly off.
I got the tool on Amazon

I remember I used to have a hard time with my 70 caps also. You don’t want to dent them putting back on…

I used a big soft faced mallet and put a little silicone grease on the bead and lip.

What kind of tool is that?
Also, by soft faced mallet you mean a rubber hammer?

Thumbs up Old School Wheel Cover-Hub Cap Hammer.

I find hooking the cap over at least one nub on the rim and then gently tapping the edge of the cap over the remaining nubs seem to work best for me.

I had that one but it had a rubber sleve on it too. No chipping at all.
They make this too

There is a technique to it. My process is to get the cap over two of the three bumps on the wheel and pressed firmly against the third bump while holding it with one hand. Then while wearing a work glove, smack it hard with the bottom of your balled up fist in a slightly outward motion. Usually takes a few smacks before they decide they're done disagreeing with me.
