So i managed to get in the garage and do a compression check on all cylinders.

1 - 175
2 - 175
3 - 175
4 - 137
5 - 190
6 - 230
7 - 190
8 - 180

So i definitely have an issue on the even bank. I re checked cylinder 6 and it peged my gauge at 300 psi. So im guessing it is getting coolant in that cylinder.

What is my next move? Pull the heads or the whole engine?

To me pulling the engine always ended up the better option... A few times in a car wasnt easy but all was needed was a cleanup and gasket and a few times ended up pulling motor because it needed more attention. For me these days it seems less scrapes and bruises if I just pull a motor.

I pulled the head off that had the bad compression readings and here are some pictures. I dont see anything wrong.

Also i noticed the epoxy that holds in my pushrod tubes has softened and i can scrape it with my finger. That could explaing the oily plugs and the loss of coolant. The only thing it cant explain is the low compression on the one cylinder.

George, I dropped my one head off at Gregs Heads yesterday and he pointed out where I was most likely loosing compression on the on cylinder, but we are still searching for the coolant leak. Im going to take to other head off have them pressure tested. Looks like the heads need to be re surfaced as will.

The head gasket between 4 and 6 looks a little dirty.

Ta man,
My cylinder head guy saw spots on the head its self where he thought the gasket was on sealing correctly. This spot was between 4 and 6. I will bring him the head gasket along with the other head this week. We are still trying to figure out where the coolant leak was at.
