Default Bolt pattern clarification question 63 Catalina

Is the bolt pattern on a 63' Catalina considered "5 on 5" when dealing with aftermarket wheels?

Yes, 5 on 5 with 1/2 inch studs. If the wheel studs are original, the drivers side are left handed thread too.

Over the years I've built 6 dirt track Pontiacs. The initial cars were 61 2 door bubble tops, the first one one was a Catalina, the second was a Ventura. I was in a partnership with another guy, and it dissolved after a few years.

I then built a 67 Lemans/GTO clone that I believe you're referring to in the signature pictures. After racing it for 3 years I moved up a class and built the 69 428 SJ GP in the other picture. I also raced it for about 3 years.

When I had my service station (late 70s til 1982) I had an employee that wanted to build a dirt track car and I helped him build a 72 455 Firebird which I drove a few times, almost won a feature with it had it not vapor locked on a restart, and I lost the lead, ended up getting second that night.

I had started building another car in 1981 (70 GTO on a 73 A body frame). I had also started a build of a 461 engine with ported RA IV heads (still have it) but due to life circumstances it never got finished. I also still have the 428 from the 69 GP in storage 40 some years later....LOL

I built a 68 Lemans 350 for an Enduro race too, but never finished the race, because I got pinned in a wreck.

I sponsored some Pontiac dirt cars, built engines, and modified carbs for the guys I sponsored.

When I joined PY I had an introductory thread, and here's the link to it:

https://forums.maxperformanceinc.com...d.php?t=507440

Lots of information on that thread about the cars.

Overall I've had good success racing Pontiacs on dirt over the years. Only a few Pontiac dirt track racers frequent this forum, glad to see another one on here.

" the drivers side are left handed thread"
Very important, often overlooked, thanks!

Thanks barrierblue66 , fortunately (or maybe not) I am old enough to remember this left had thread deal the first time I pulled off one of the wheels. When I first started to try and get the lug nuts loose I remember thinking "there is no way that every one of these lugs is that tight!" So before I went to get a breaker bar I tried them "backwards" and off they came!!! I actually had always thought that that left hand thread deal was a weird Ford or Chrysler deal.

Thanks again!
