Round port long branch manifold fitment
Was wondering if someone can confirm that the long branch Ram air II, IV iron manifolds will fit on a 62 Full size with power steering? I know for sure the D-Port ones will fit but the round port are wider in the center and look to stick out a little further than the D-port. The steering gear box looks to be very close. Getting ready to possibly buy a set of manifolds and want to make sure they will fit. Thanks.

Not sure if they fit but am wondering who is selling them? Did not think they were available any more. I would like to use them on a ‘63 Catalina.

There seems to be a fairly serious push to make another run. They will probably go up in cost. (my opinion because they will be made in US). No exact time line has been announced.

PY member in Georgia bought a complete 69 TA RamAir4 Engine that had been nestled into a 63 Station Wagon for a long time.
Running engine. The manifolds fit right into the 63 Engine was removed from the 63 with exh manfs still bolted. |

I was “assuming” that if it was a motor from a ‘69 FB, it might have the non long branch ones so maybe those also will fit in a ‘63. Maybe?
OK, reread, I guess FB is long branch. . . .

Yes it was a 69 Trans Am RamAirIV engine with RoundPort LongBranch manifolds.
RoundPort #722 Heads 67-69 = 1st Generation Bird It was installed into a 63 Pontiac Wagon many moons ago. Someone was pretty savvy about it back then. Was mind-blowing when the engine went up for sale on craigslist a couple years ago. It was still in the wagon and in good running condition. i think these manifolds will fit big cars up thru 1969 or 1970 |

Thanks for the replies. The engine pics show the engine with a PS pump. That means the PS steering gear must clear the round port manifold on the left side. It just looked really close on my 62 with the stock log manifolds. I would hate to keep waiting for them only to find out they won't fit with PS. Looks like they are a go. I just hope they make a run in my lifetime!

My concern was between the center port outlets and the steering gear box. There is just over 1/2" clearance between these two parts with stock log manifolds. Just wanted to make sure round long branch would clear that area. Your nor going to "clearance" iron manifolds! Thanks again.

The D ports were designed for the big cars so I would guess they clear.I have swapped them from first gens to 61-63 big cars. Not sure about round ports.Tom

I have as well. The round port manifolds have a little more pronounced stand out at the center ports than the D port. Due to the wider mounting area and the spacing of the round ports. But if you look at a round port manifold left side, there is a large divot in the casting near the #5 cylinder outlet. That's very close to where the steering gear box would be on a B body car. It's possible that's the reason it's there. Just not sure. It looks like the ones in the pics provided above fit in a B body wagon even with the pre-heater sheet metal stove installed, so I probably have nothing to worry about. Thanks for the input.
