Default 1964 Pontiac Grand Prix Vs Catalina Backup Light/Taillight Housings

My original chrome backup/reverse light housings for my '64 GP are pitted and will need to be re-chromed. The chrome housings for the taillight/brake lights for the '64 Catalinas appear to be identical to the GP except for the lens color (i.e. frosted white for the GP and red for the Catalina).

It's hard to tell without a side-by-side comparison, but the openings for the lenses seem a bit different, as the GP lens seems smaller in the housing. I haven't been able to find any GP housings in good shape, but there are some Catalina ones out there. They carry different part numbers though from Pontiac, which makes me wonder if they're actually interchangeable. If I could find a nice set of Catalina chrome housings that will fit with the '64 GP backup lens, then I'm in business.

Does anyone know if the Catalina and GP housings interchange for '64? Thank you.

The housings do not interchange. Catalina has 2 lamp sockets, Bonneville has 3 lamp sockets. The Grand Prix has 1 lamp socket. You could possibly make custom back up assemblies out of Catalina housing by making a clear plastic lense. Even the GP lense wont fit a Catalina housing.
My humble opinion.

Thank you for the reply, a421cat. After seeing your post, I checked and you're right. My GP reverse light housings have one bulb in each housing and the Catalinas have two taillights in each housing. The housings do look a little different in shape too where the lense is installed.
