One of the best pictures of Marilyn I've ever seen! She was stunningly beautiful.

Very nice, very nice indeed. And, if you look really closely, you will see a Pontiac in the background. I'm serious, have a look...

A little story behind this pic.
A few weeks ago I couldn't sleep,so I got up and figured I'd kill some time on E-bay till I got tired. As usual,I looked up old vintage photos and Pontiac stuff till I came across this pic. My jaw dropped as the woman standing next to this 36' Pontiac is a dead ringer for my mother! I sent the link to the auction to 2 of my older sisters and they thought the same. My mother passed years back,so I sent it to one of her brothers to get his input. He was not sure either way.
I sent a message to the seller asking if there was any info on the back of the pic,and he replied "No,it just says it was developed in Feb. of 46'." That means my mother would have been 19 at the time,so the time frame fit too.
I won the auction,so I have the pic now. The photography studio that is listed on the back of the photo I traced back to a place out of NY state. So now I'm not so sure that it is my mother as she grew up on the west side of Chicago, and lived in Forest Park IL in 46'. So if it's not my mom,it's a dead ringer standing next to a nice old Pontiac.

Indeed...thanks for the post with the (now) seldom seen '78 nose. Most reprints I've seen in recent history show the '79-81 nose treatment.

Great photo. Two very lovely young ladies and a great car! It is interesting that it is obviously winter and there is snow on the ground and both girls are wearing short-sleeve dresses. Would love to see you confirm it is your mom in the photo - what a great treasure that would be!

Default NASCAR Pontiacs

I figure all these pics are already on this thread, but with 108 pages, I'm not gonna look for 'em. Anyhow, they deserve another look. I refer to these as the glory days of Nascar Pontiacs--1957-'62. Then Pontiac pulled out in '63. But not before Pontiacs put a good whuppin on all other brands !

The 1st cars I'll show are, of course, driven by Fireball Roberts. He won just about everything there was to win at Daytona in '62 !

Default FB & Smokey

Here's a few more shots, including one with Smokey. His cars won the pole and the race at the D-500 in '61 & '62. That ain't too shabby !

Default Marvin Paunch

The 1st pic is a shot of Fireball with the trophy girls, which would not upload in my last post.

Marvin Paunch won the D-500 in '61. This a a recreation of his winning ride, which I believe was a '60 model. His car had been raced the the previous season and was not really expected to win. But Fireball had problems, so Paunch took the win. Check out the driver in the last pic--it's Dave Despain, with mic in hand.

Pontiac would have won 3 in a row, but in '60, Junior Johnson, who was drafting the leader, with only a few laps to go, won the race when the back windshield of the Pontiac blew out, causing it to spin. I've heard JJ say that the Pontiacs were so much faster than his Chevy, he knew the only way to keep up was to draft a Pontiac. He credits himself with discovering the advantages of drafting. He later drove a Pontiac himself, I think.

If there are still any of you guys who have never done it, Google 1961 Daytona 500, and 1962 Daytona 500. You can find all the qualifying and finishing results, as well as a 6 or 7 minute highlights video of both races. It's "must see" entertainment for all Pontiac fans. I love it !

Default Cotton

Cotton Owens ran a '57 Pontiac on the sands of Daytona beach, and won. He and Pontiac got some good ink. I reckin these guys are Pontiac heros, sorta like the famous heros who defeated the British and established our country. I consider them sorta like "founding fathers" of Pontiac racing.

Recently, I learned of the passing of "Wild Bill" Alexander. Am happy to have had the pleasure to meet him and get to know him a bit.
Here he is at what has to be one of his finest moments in his driving career when he drove the Pontiac powered AA/Fueler Earnie's Camera "Shutterbug" in 1962 to a win over the Greer/Black/Prudhomme AA/Fueler at Lion's Drag Strip in Wilmington, Ca.

This shot shows Bill checking the heads.

The next 2 are not pre 1990 vintage ( what this thread is intended for ) but, does tie into the above pics-

Here is Bill with the newly recreated Pontiac Shutterbug around 2004 at Bakersfield.

And here is Bill sitting in my then new Pontiac powered AA/Fuel Dragster in 2003.
Not the best pic but, the only one I have with him sitting in my car.

RIP Bill and thanks for your contribution to Pontiac performance.

Somebody sent me a bunch of these photos a few years ago. Forgot I had them until recently and decided this is a good place to post them up. American car transporter pics from the fifties. Not sure if there is any Ponchos in there though...

I heard someone say that it had burned, but someone else said that it wasn't true and they knew where it was but wouldn't say where. I would love to have it.
