I'd love to take credit for this idea, but I actually stole it from an Olds site . |

242177P,
Do you have any other info on this piece? Where available, cost, etc.? It seems much easier to accomplish than the drilling, and much more universal! Adam

Skip,
No need for Don's adapters w/E heads, just bush down to either 1/2 or 3/8 NPT, I'm running 3/8 NPT. Before flaring tube you install the nut then the sleeve and flare tubing. The tubing I use is the Russell anodized aluminum, available in either blue or red. I'll give you a call when I get finished up here in NJ (work). Herb

I would like to take the time to thank everyone on this thread. I had an overheating problem with my new engine and it had me scared. I built a 461 Stroker engine and when I had the machine shop grout the block I told them to fill it too full. When I tried to drive it the car would overheat and keep climbing. After I shut it off and let it heat soak there was no chance of cooling it. Well between blocking the water bypass and adding the lines from the back of the head to the crossover it did something yesterday it would never have done before. I let the car idle in the driveway and watched the temperature, once I saw the theromostat open and then the electric fan came on at 185 I watched the temperature go back down to 170 and was still going down when I turned the engine off. If it hadn't been for you guys I might have pulled the engine out and sold the block and started over. Thanks a million, this is a great place for Pontiac information. Oh and when the temperature was climbing I was checking the exhaust temperatures with an infrared thermometer and the exhaust temps were very even across both heads. So in my opinion adding the lines from the head to the crossover is a really good idea. Now I can't wait to take it to the local cruise and turn some heads.

So I could theoretically accomplish the same goal by punching out the freeze plug on the rear of the driver side head, press in a restrictor nipple just like on the passenger side, and then tee a line off the driver nipple into the line coming off the passenger nipple going to the heater core? That way I still get the benefit of this more even cooling while maintaining my heater core...
