When my wife and I were selling our Pontiac T Shirts (2005-2012) we had plenty of time to talk to Jim W, and Dave Anderson during Pontiac events. Jim always had some great stories to tell. We usually ran into them at least once during a show at a local restaurant. My wife bought me Jim's book, "Glory Days" during one of the shows, excellent reading.

When things were slow at the booth Jim would grab a few different paint markers and sharpies and set off to the show field to sign cars and T shirts. seemed he really thrived on meeting all the Pontiac owners and seeing the cars.

So sorry to hear of Jim having dementia, I lost my father to it in 2007. As has been said, someone with the affliction may not remember what happened yesterday, but can remember 70 years ago perfectly. Prayers to Jim and his close friends.

His speech is OK, it's just his memory - so far.

Had the pleasure of meeting up with Jim at the Seattle GTO convention. in 2016. He did a song and dance routine on stage, and I was totally absorbed by his character. Hope his condition can improve.....atb now JRH

Thanks for doing that.
We're fortunate that he did the "Glory Days" book.
I can't drive the 'Bandit' without thinking about him.

He had tremendous respect for John DeLorean. He said JD was the best car mind he ever knew.

I was fortunate enough to meet Mr. Wangers when Jim and Dave Anderson came up to Washington State in December 2007 to attend the Northwest GTO Legends annual Christmas party.
Jim and Dave made a side trip up to Canada to visit SD Performance so SD arranged an open house to coincide with the visit. I found out about this and got myself invited. I had recently bought a new "family" Pontiac for my wife (a Torrent) and Jim and I had a great conversation discussing his concerns with Pontiac’s direction. Jim was not pleased with the current crop of Pontiacs, not only with the badge engineered exterior styling but also the lack of performance options and the generic interior. A Pontiac was meant to have an expressive exterior that stood out from the crowd, a performance orientation, and an enthusiast driver oriented interior. I was honoured to have him critiquing my car. He was a bit more ok with my supercharged Bonneville. He is the icon of what Pontiac was, when it was at its best. Prayers to Jim.

Been going thought it with my mom for a decade, who is about the same age. Namenda has helped and careful administration of Seroquel has been a Godsend. Every case is different though.
Long-term memory stays, but patients can't remember much from the current day.
Enjoyed talking to Jim at many POCI shows over the years.
