When ever a division came up with an idea and put it into the market, they got exclusive use of it for about 1 model year before the other divisions could use it. I worked at GM Research as a contract employee from Feb. 1986 until Oct 1989, when I was hired direct. Yesterday was my 32 year anniversary. I worked on lots of cool projects. My boss always said we were working on things 20 years out. It has been an interesting career, so far. All of the technology developed over the years has been pretty interesting. I let any one who listens, how great Pontiac was and how we should never have gotten rid of it. We should have kept them as a performance division not an every car division. I love driving my Firebird into work and showing it off. One of the engineers I worked with, when he retired, gave me a GTO tie tack. He could not think of anyone who would enjoy it more. He was a development engineer at the Milford Proving Grounds working on the GTO in the 60's.

Die-hard? I guess...

So far, I've put Pontiac engines into:

> 1937 Buick opera coupe, 1959
> 1960 Falcon tudor (2 different Pontiacs), 1961 & 1964
> 1957 Chev BelAir, 1964
> 1957 Chev wagon 1965
> Mini-modified pulling tractor (5 different Pontiacs with many variations), 1984
> 1959 GMC WideSide pickup, 2002
> Landspeed lakester, 2010

> plus buying Wangers' 1983 'Bandit' Pontiac-powered Suburban
