anybody find a good paint or way to restore the chrome around the dash bezel?

It wasn't the perfect solution, but I masked off the bezel and then used Duplicolor Chrome Paint. Here's a link: http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/d...s101/7140711-P

I shot the chrome paint on top of the blacked in area in order to get the rim first. Here's a photo of the finished product lying on the seat. Paul~

Paul,

Thanks for the response, but I'm not following the process. Your bezel looks really good. Would you mind elaborating on the steps you took?

Thanks!

These are all the photos I have of the bezel.
This was a blue bezel, so I must have masked off the blue part and shot the black first.
Then remasked everything and then shot the chrome paint next.
I think there is a step or two I didn't take photo of because I know I masked and uncovered areas multiple times to get the final product.
Wished I had done enough photos for it to make more sense. Sorry about that.

Final product shot using duplicolor chrome paint referenced below.

Masked to shoot the chrome on the edges only as the chrome just above the wood grain is covered in this view.

Masked to shoot the black onto the blue original bezel

I don't remember who it is but there is someone that does advertising to do plastic chrome resto. I did the same way for my bezel but for me the chrome paint doesn't look like the top of the paint can. it doesn't get real shinny it just gets a little , & more like just silver paint. It looks better then when it is all worn off but still is more silver then chrome.

Agreed on all counts. I may try to rattlecan mine until I can get one done professionally.

I think Jay Leno had some new paint the is lot better as far as looking good for painting to look like chrome. But chroming is still #1. But I have not found it yet or used it.
I think there a You Tube high light on it

I just watched a few of the vids about the chrome stuff. All of the comments I read after the vids said the chrome doesn't stay & turns yellow when out in the sun. It also says that when you try to clean it it will peel off when you wash it. The systems are all in the price range of $ 1000.00 to get enough to do 4 wheels. Not for me. I'll spend the money to have the bezels chromed the right way 1st.

Disregard the "raining on your parade" commentary I'm bumping this thread for ya!

Any updates in any of the areas you're working on with your GTO?

It sounds like your missing the one that has the fiber optic line on it that goes to the headlamp switch. It will be in the lower left side of the cluster below & left of the gen. light hole.
