I had my front end off and now I'm putting the old rotors back on. The outside wheel bearing seems to just go loosely in the rotor, then a washer goes on the spindle, over this bearing.

Now I have the big nut to put on the spindle.

What is the procedure to put this nut on and properly load the wheel bearing?

i did mine a wierd way (on a 70)....

tighten the nut finger tight, and back it off a little bit (about a 1/4 turn) then take the wrench and stand it vertical. Let it drop until it stops. then back off the nut until you can fit the cotter pin in. there should be the slightest bit of wobble in it.

worked great for me.. if anyone else sees a problem in that, let me know! hehe

remember, pack the bearings well

grease the brngs well,

then tighten the nut until it's tight while you turn the rotor,

back the nut off until it's loose and then tighten it finger tight, and the pin will line up with a hole in the spindle and the nut.
