I always thought you would just put 65-66 style 389 pushrods and stock rockers on a 62 or 63 389 without issues. If early engine is rebuilt with the upgrade of the normal 60 psi M54DS pump/screen kit it is more pressure than stock which would supply plenty of oil but too much? If it drains properly its hard see it being too much as long as the Oring valves seals and oil shields are installed properly. Seems the cooling effect of the oil on the springs and no wear on the pivot ball rockers spot would be great for a low lasting low rpm cruiser. main benefit would be instant oiling on dry startups after sitting for many months during the long Wisconsin winters. IMO..
Are the rockers the same spec on a 62-63 as later 389 but only missing the oil hole?

Larry, geometry is the same on 63 rockers if they have oil holes or not.The 716 heads had pushrod oiling and all other(except SDs) had stud oiling.Tom

Thanks Tom, I thought so. I also meant "long lasting, low RPM cruising " not low...sic
