We just got word that the 1967 fenders are here in the states. We have requested a pair to inspect and need one of our PY members that needs a pair to test fit. A discount would be involved. Only requirement is that you must be ready to test them immediately. Anyone interested, please e-mail me.

Yes, made in Taiwan. I hate to break the news to some of you, but 90% of the sheetmetal found in classic car catalogs is made in Taiwan. That doesn't necessarily mean poor quality. Look at the recent release of GTO Hoods. Excellent! That's why we need someone to test these.

It is ashame that we can't produce a quality fender, hood, quarter panel for a reasonable price here in the states.

There is a small welded piece in the front upper corner of the fender where it meets the grill. That piece has to be swapped for 1966 owners. I have no problem with these fenders being tested on a 1966.

If it was the fall/winter I would do it in a heartbeat! but I am about to get the car back out after 3 years in storage and don't want to take it apart now.

Also....I was one of the guys that early on bought the repro quarters only to discover that the rear wheel well molding did not fit without some alteration (After all the paint work was done) At the time no one would admit that there was a problem. Now everyone knows that there is a BIG problem with those quarters.

This hobby is going crazy in a good way. Who would have thought they would do these fenders.
70's can't be far off can they?

I heard a rumor that the 71-2 hood was in the works.

The lip on the inside is different? I don't think I ever knew that.
I learned something new today. Oh well if it's true, the purists will have to step up and buy NOS ones.

O.K... Here is a short review of the 66-67 GTO fenders available from our friend Ccass.

There are some good points and some bad points, but overall they are a decent alternative to used/abused fenders. I had my friend who is an experienced professional restoration/body/paint man help with the mock up of these fenders. The car is a 67 GTO convertible in pretty rough shape as far as the body is concerned. I was worried the car was going to be too rough to get an accurate idea of how the new fenders will fit and in a couple cases it is, but that is the fault of the car, not the fenders.

Good points:

They generally fit o.k.
Stamping/tooling is decent (not factory, but still good).
Body lines on side and top are good.
Outer skin is nice and thick.
Pick up/mounting points are good and allow (at least on this car) a good amount of adjustment, they measure very close to stock.
Wheel well fit is good.
Door fit is good.
Overall dimensions are good.
Hood gap is good.
They come packed very well.

Bad points:

Inner structure/hinge panel is thinner gauge metal than stock. May or may not cause a problem with hood/hinges. Keep the hinges lubed.
Same goes for the mounting points, they seem kinda thin.
The wheel arch is a little thin/narrow right at the top and gets wider towards the bottom, but shouldn't be too noticeable.
They seem to be a bit wavey (but so is a lot of NOS sheet metal). They will require some work to get them very straight.

Again, overall they are pretty good. Much better than some of the stuff I've used (tried to use) before. I wouldn't use them on a 100 point restoration, but they are just fine for a driver quality car.
I give them a 6 to 6.5 out of 10
Thanks to Ccass for making them available.

Pics to follow.
