Default 65 Lemans For Sale, Street Car, Runs 12's.

Selling my 65 Lemans to spend more time and money on my Kids' 77 T/A.

This car runs high 12's at 108 in normal weather and 13.0's at 106-107 in bad racing weather, all in 100% street trim and tune, including the 255/60/15 Yokohama All Season Radials which only give me 2.0's for 60 ft times.

This is a very reliable street car which I've driven 800 miles round trip to Norwalk 4 times, raced and driven home.

Yes, this car still looks pretty much like it does in the picture although I'm in the process of sanding and priming it to prevent more rust.

Here are some details on the car.

Engine - 1974 455 .040 over, #96 Heads, 1971 iron intake, Q-Jet rebuilt by Cliff Ruggles. Engine rebuilt by me about 10k miles ago.

Trans - TH350 professionally rebuilt with firm 5200k rpm shifts. Shiftworks kit used for full gear control at the console.

Rear - 1970 GTO 3.31 12 Bolt rear with new posi clutches and springs.

Exhaust - 4-tube headers, 3x2.5 Dr Gas X-Over, Dynomax 17749 SuperTurbo mufflers, Mandrel bent 2.5 inch tailpipes.

Original Color - Burgundy with Black Vinyl Top - I have the Vinyl Top Trim

Interior - Black Vinyl with console. Originally A/C but all A/C parts have been removed except for the Dash. Heat controls and Gauge pod are non-A/C.

Suspension - Front end completely rebuilt with new tie rod ends, ball joints, control arm bushings, and springs around 5 years ago. Rear end got all new control arm bushings and Indian Adventures Ground Grabber lower control arms at the same time.

Asking $6500.

I have seen this car many times- don't be scared by the paint- or lack there of. Steve did everything the right way, except the paint.
The car is actually very solid and super reliable. Steve has driven this car to Norwalk, from NY, with his family and the trunk full of camping gear and raced all weekend and then drive it home again. I've seen it run well into the 12's with regular street radials with the same tune it had when it drove hours to the track.

Somebody is going to get a great deal on a car that just needs a little clean up and paint.

Default Last reduction....

Ok, I'm going to reduce the asking price one more time to $5300. If this doesn't get it sold then I'll keep it.

Default New Pics with rust cleaned up and new temp paint.

As promised, I spent a weekend with the DA sander, then primed and painted the car a panel at a time with rattle cans, to show that the car isn't as bad as it looked. I've attached a pic here and will be updating my website with new pics from all sides.

You can also now see that I have all the emblems and trim pieces since I installed them too.

Default Website Updated

I have now updated the my website with all the new pictures.

IreGTO65, honestly I can see now it was a mistake for me to post this car for sale in the condition it was in. Yes, there is a lot of bodywork to do, but the car isn't nearly as bad as it looked. You also don't find reliable 12 second street cars every day at an affordable price.

The $5300 price is negotiable if anyone would like to e-mail me an offer.

I will also be putting the car on e-bay soon and will post the auction number here when I do.

Here is the website again:

Default Going on E-bay

I've had quite a few people ask about the car but no firm offers yet.

I have it scheduled to start on E-Bay on Monday the 14th. If you are interested it would be better to get something done before it goes on E-bay.

Thanks

Not in the market or in the need, just wanted to say "that is one cool air induction setup".
